On Christmas Eve, 1894, just 10 miles northwest of Eufala my great grandfather went to a party at his brother's home; J.H. Bennefield. There was a fight because of a roudy guest, unknown to most of those at the party, and once the men hustled him outside they thought he would calm down from his drinking. Instead, he turned and shot my G-GPA who blocked his brother. He died immediately. All there agreed it was a tragic accident.
I have been unable to find Dock's gravesite. Most of the Bennefield's are elsewhere: (Hoffman, Pierce). I would really like to find his gravesite.
Does anyone have any idea of small cemeteries in the Eufala and Stidman area, or elsewhere where folks were buried in the late 1800s. Thanks for anyone who takes the time to look, results or not. Cassandra
