No relation! Saw your posting. Did you find your John in 1900? I found a John Godwin in Franklin Co, Tx age 18 AR(boarder). Is he related to James Godwin 12/1866 that was in Oklahoma also? James' wife was Elizabeth, children Mattie, Estell, Johnnie and Jesse(dau). James was in Chickasaw Co, Ok in 1900 born AR. Chickasaw was in Indian Territory, so was Marshall Co at that time. There's no John listed there. E-mail me direct if this is your line. I'll send you the census images.
