Fitts family in Love county

My Father, William David Fitts claims to have been born in Burney in 1922. I see in the 1910 census that there were 6 individuals identified as living in Burney with the surname Fitts. None of them match his Father’s name, Robert Blackmon Fitts. No Fitts are identified on the 1920 census head of household list on this web site.

I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of any of this. I am trying to track my family history and am having difficulty getting started.

Robert Blackmon Fitts was born about 1880 and was married to a woman named Mary Ellen (Clingan?) who according to my Father was Cherokee. Robert also claimed to be “Black Dutch”. I’m not sure what that means. There were several other children from their marriage but I don’t know if they were born in Oklahoma also. The Children’s names are Arthur, Jack, Clarence, Marie and William (my Father).

Any help that anyone could offer would be appreciated.

                            Thank you,
                                          Ron Fitts
