ODUS PERRY BLACKWELL
Odus Perry Blackwell was born in Alabama, April 22. 1883 passed away August 13, 1975 at his home in Guthrie.
Rev. Blackwell came to Oklahoma in 1904 with his parents. He farmed a few years, then entered the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was admitted for trial into the Oklahoma Annual Conference on 1912 received into full connection and ordained a Deacon in 1915. received Elders orders and ordination in 1919.
He was married in 1907, and to this union five sons were born Before the death of Mrs. Blackwell in 1922. In 1924 Rev. Blackwell was married to Nina B. Miller in Helena, Oklahoma. The five sons and a nephew Ronald Squires and adopted daughter, Margaret, made their home with them. In 1929 the oldest son, Virgil, passed away.
Among the charges served over the years were Yewed-LambertĚ Buffalo Follett, Texas; Sharon; Waukomis; Piedmont; Aline; Braman; West Guthrie and Oilton.
Rev. Blackwell also served as conference statistician and was a member of the Board of Conference Claimants. He served 42 years.
Retireing at the age of in 1955, but serving the church at Oilton for another two years. He Moved to Guthrie in 1957, living to be 92 years of age.

Rev. Blackwell is survived by his wife, Nll1a, of the home; one brother Clifton of Enid; five sons, Cecil of New Iberia, Louisiana; Max of Oklahoma City; Marion of Denver, Colorado; Jack of Lubbock, Texas; Ronald Squires of Yorba Linda, California; one daughter, Margaret Loy, of Oklahoma City; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at West Guthrie United Methodist Church on August 15, 1975, with Dr. Winfred T. McBride and Rev. Cecil L. Boldin & officiating. Interment was in Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie.
