Indeed there was a convent in Guthrie. I was a police officer during the years of 1988-1989 in the area.

The old convent grounds are full of it's buildings: Huge church (boarded up), and old dorm, several maintenance sheds, a warehouse, and the original milk/spring house.

All the buildings except the church were still in use by 1989. I am told the site was used as an Army training base during WWII and is full of underground passages from building to building.

It is currently the site of the USDOL Job Corps Center.
