Simpson - Bailey - Wilkerson - Reed
My great grandmother, America (Simpson) and Elijah Bailey lived in LeFore Co., OK. I do not know a lot about her and would like to find descendants or to talk to anyone doing research on her family.
I do not know where she was buried but think maybe in Hontubby in LeFlore Co., OK. Her brother William Green Simpson is buried there in Hontubby and probably her mother, too, Louisa (Bristow) (Simpson) (Reed) Allred.
Her name was America Melinda Simpson, and she was a dt. of William H. and Louisa (Briscow) Simpson.
America was married to John Wilkerson in 1880 and had a son named Charlie Wilkerson and then she married to Elijah Bailey in 1886. Both of those marriages were in Barry Co., MO.
She had two children before her married to John Wilkerson by someone named George Simpson - they were named John and James. I don't know if she was married to George Simpson or not, but in August of 1876 John Simpson was born in or near Eagle Rock, MO, and James was born in Washington, MO in November of 1877.
While living in Barry County, MO America Simpson lived near Eagle Rock, MO, but she was born in Warrick Co., IN. After her marriage to Elijah Bailey she lived in Carroll County, Arkansas, near Berryville, and in 1891 she had a daughter named Dovey Louise Bailey.
Dovey Bailey married John James Payton and lived near Pineville and Noel, in McDonald Co., MO and died in Gravette, Benton Co., AR.
I think that America Simpson had 7 children but I don't know who they all were or what happened to them. I do know that in 1910 that 6 of them were living.
If any one can help untangle this puzzle and find where she was buried or anything else about her, I'd really like to hear from you.
