GEO. W. BROOKS FUNERAL RITES HELD SUNDAY Funeral services fo George W. Brooks '89er of this county, were held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from Union Chapel, northeast of Hennessey, Rev. Paul Lamb officiated at the services and many old friends and neighbors attended. Interment was made in the Lyon Valley cemetery adjoining the chapel. George W. Brooks was born in Stubenville, Ohio, on January 5, 1855, and died December 28, 1932, at age of 77 years, 11months and 23 days. He was married to Ida Hensley in Caldwell, Kans. Coming to Oklahoma in 1889, he located on a claim in Skeleton twonshio, northeast of Hennessey, later removing to a farm northeast of Dover, which remained his home until the dime of his death. Four of his five children survive him----Mrs. Susie Fredregill, of Denver, Colo., Charles Brooks, of Hennessey; William Brooks, of Oklahoma City; and James Brooks, of Mesa, Ariz. One daughter, Mrs. Valaria Porter, passed away in 1922 at Denver, Colo. He contributed his bit to the settlement and the upbuilding of his state and county ant rated high as a citizen in his own community.
