In the 1940's two brothers, Ray and Bruce Williams attended the Indian school at Chillocco, Oklahoma. At that time, my dad was a boxing promoter and these brothers stayed with us in Blackwell for a while and were both involved in boxing.
At the onset of WWII, Bruce enlisted in the navy. While he was stationed in California he had the chance to box professionally in Las Angeles. He won his match and the purse....and the next morning he was found dead. Although his death was ruled as a hit and run, the injuries were not indicative with that, and it has long been suspected that he was robbed and murdered, since the money he had won was missing.
Bruce's brother Ray lived in Blackwell for a while and I think he married a woman named Anna Lee. They had a little boy who had a very unusual nickname.
I have a couple of pictures I would like to see with the family of these brothers. One is a photo of Bruce in his naval uniform...and other is of Ray and his wife. These were stored in an old trunk that belonged to my parents. They should be with the Williams family.
If you are a relative of these brothers and you can identify Ray's son by his nickname, these pictures will be sent to you if you want them.
