Eddie,
Could you give me some dates for John Thigpen and Sarah Lewis.I don't have any personal knowledge of them but will try to find out something for you.
We have an excellent Family Resource Center in Tishomingo run by the Chickasaw Nation.I would be most happy to do a lookup there next week. They are not open on Monday, but after that I could go in and look through the Johnston Co. Records for you.I live north of Tishomingo and not to far (as the crow flies) from Coleman.
What is the linage of your Cope family?Do you descend from the Kentucky Copes, the Tennessee Copes, the Pennsylvania Copes, the German Copes, or some other line?
My linage is from the Kentucky Copes, beginning with James Cope born 1757 in Washington Co. VA.He settled in Floyd Co. KY just before 1800.The area where he lived later became part of Perry Co., then Clay Co., and finally Breathitt Co. KY.
My line is as follows:James Cope, James P. Cope, William Jackson Cope, Alfred Buckner "Buck" Cope, Louis Shelby Cope, Elwood Thomas Cope, Linda Kaye Cope (me).
The name "Edward" is very common in our family line.James P. Cope had a son named Alfred Edward Cope, William Jackson Cope had a son named Edward E. Cope, and Alfred Buckner "Buck" Cope also had a son named Edward E. Cope.
Kaye
