Obit John Robert Gentry died 11/25/1952 Holdenville
Services for John Robert Gentry, 85, pioneer countyan, are slated at 2:30 PM Thursday in Barnard Memorial Methodist Church.
Mr. Gentry died shortly after noon Tuesday in a local hospital following a long illness. He had been a resident of Hughes County since 1910, at which time he and his wife moved to the Hulsey community. The family moved to Holdenville in 1930, where Mr. Gentry was in the grocery business several years before returning. He was born 09/13/1867 in Bowling Green Kentucky. He was a member of Spike Roberts Pioneer Mens club.
Officiating at services will be Rev. C.C Johnson assisted by Rev J.C. Harris.
Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife Flora of the home address, 313 S. Hinckley;ason Guy Gentry, Glendale Ariz; five daughters Mrs. T.A. Williams of Tulsa; Mrs. J.B Wheat, city, Mrs. Billy Gill, Tucson Ariz.; Mrs. Vester Mabry, city; Mrs. Ola Mae Robinson, Wewoka.
Also one sister Mrs. Mollie Whie, Bowling Green KY, one brother George Gentry, Shawnee; four grandchildren; Mrs. R.L. Zimmerman, Tulsa; Bobby Robinson, Nowata, Mrs. Glen Bailey, city; Mrs. Cecil Thornten, Spanaway, Wash.; and four great-grandchildren.
Members of the Pioneer Mens will sit in a body at services. The group will meet at 2 PM Thursday at Middleton's Transfer from where they will go to the church.
Active bearers will be Ernest Erwin, Ashley Thelford, Claud Couch, Bert Leftwich, Ed Moore, and Earl Roberts.
Honorary bearers will be Coy Haskett, J.O. Elliston, Perry Gustin, Carl Standford, Leonard Roach, Binas Hostettler, Earl Jackson, Frank Gault, Oliver Mathis, and members of the Pioneer club.
Burial will be in Holdenville cemetery under the direction of Mackey Funeral Hom
