Linda: Thanks for replying, and I appreciate your information. My relationship to this tragic case is through Fannie McCollum Melton, the mother of the murdered children. The official investigation concluded that she had slit the childrens' throats and then her own. Several people in the Mangum area have recounted that radio personality Paul Harvey reported that James Melton had confessed to the murders years later on his deathbed. The only clue I have to Melton is that he and a "G.D. Melton" were listed in a thank you letter written to the community and published in a local paper after the funerals. I have no clue to Melton's life after the murders or his family. A real family mystery! Thanks for your help........
