Do you have anything on James Franklin Farris in the history book? This is what I have.

James participated in the land rush into the Cherokee Outlet- later known as the Cherokee Strip, on September 16, 1893. He staked and filed a claim near Jefferson/Pond Creek, Oklahoma territory. He built a house and barn and farmed there. James primarily raised hogs and grew some crops. He entered hogs in the Kansas City Fair, where he received several 1st prizes.

While living in Jefferson, Oklahoma James Franklin Farris was appointed Postmaster of that community on June 15, 1901.

James and family lived at Jefferson from 1893 to about 1905.
