Thanks Dorothy for the information. My gggrandfather was John A. T. Jones and he was working on the Walthal Ranch from about 1889 until his death in 1897. His wife died on the ranch around 1894 and was buried there on the ranch. He was left with several small daughters and apparently Mrs. Walthal offered to take them in. He declined and raised them himself. He was apparently kicked by a horse he was shoeing and died the next day. My information is that he was buried next to his wife, Nancy Emily Jones, but the only marker was a stone (probably sandstone) marker.

If you know of any information It would be greatly appreciated. Is the ranch still around? Does it have another name now? I am just glad to actually find out that there really was such a place.

Again, thanks for your information.

jacquie
