The older brother, MARTIN PIERCE, of my g-g grandfather served in the 20th Tennessee Cavalry Company G during the Civil War.
He was wounded and sent to the Forrest Hospital in Lauderdale County, Mississippi on or about July 1864.
He recovered and returned to his home in Dyer County, Tennessee.
About 1895, he moved his family to Forestburg, Montague County, Texas.
His widow, Mittie Ann Tisdale Pierce, in 1931 filed an application for a Confederate widow's pension in which she stated that he died 17 Sep 1906 while attending an "old soldiers' reunion" in Garvin County, Oklahoma.
His widow died in 1949 and is buried in the Hardy Cemetery, Forestburg, Montague County, Texas.
Would any resident of Garvin County, Oklahoma have any knowledge of a Confederate veterans' reunion on or about Sep 1906 and any knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Martin Pierce's death and burial if he were buried in Garvin County, Oklahoma?
Thank you for any information that anyone might offer.
