Here is an obit that was gotten for me in error. I had asked for someone else & got sent this. Hope it is the one that you need. I almost never throw any genealogy things away. I am not related in anyway. I do not know which paper it came from - most likely Stratford Star or Ada Evening News.
C A Rotenberry
Charles Akin Rotenberry, prominent Stratford citizen, passed away Saturday morning, January 30, 1943, at his Stratford home. He was born at Honey Gove Texas May 14, 1881, and came to the old Johnsonville, now Byars, with his father, J J "Jack" Rotenberry, in 1894. Five years later the family moved to McGee. His father was the first Garvin County representive to the state legislature. The deceased was Garvin County commissioner from 1924 to 1932, and figured in a political triumph last fall as Garvin County manager of the campaign of Bob Kerr for govenor. He was a member of the Masonic Faternity, the Modern Woodmen, the W.O.W., the Woodmen Circle, and the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alva Rotenberry, of the Stratford home; two daughters -- Mrs M E Hammer, Hayes, Kansas, and Mrs. Joe Rowland, Oklahoma City; two sons - Hubert of Portland, Oregon, soon to be transferred by his railroad company to Panama; and Vaughn of Norfolk, Virginia, where he has been in the navy three weeks; five sisters -- Mrs. W F. Tucker of Byars, Mrs. G. D. Thomas of Ada, Mrs. Geo. Gamel of Oklahoma City, Mrs. W A Smith of Allen, and Mrs. H B Phillips of Moore. There are also four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church of Stratford, Pastor Carlston of the Durant Baptist Church brought the funeral sermon. The local pastor read a personal telegram of condolence from Governor Kerr and referred to personal associations with the deceased. Music was provided by a ladies duet, a male quartet, and the sextet.
Casket bearkers were George Pearce, J A MIller, Walter Gray, Haskel Burnett, John Williams, Arch Thompson, M F Bayless, Karl Andrews, C E Goodwin, George Gray, Sam Eldridge, and Charley Perry. The body was in charge of the Smith Funeral Home, and burial was in the McGee cemetery. 4 Feb 1943
