He was too young to be in the "Run", but very smart. He brought bottles with him and wood, which was scarce, and erected the first building in Garfield Co. and bottled water from the Jesse Chisolm Goverment Springs Park to sell to the settlers after the run in 1893. His wife signed the visitation list at my grandmother Anna E. Wingert's funeral list and contributed a flower. Other's are in Ponca City, OK. and they sometimes spelled it Messel. I don't have much on Messel, other than what is mentioned in the book I previously mentioned available at the Cherokee Strip Musuem. I live in Wichita, KS, but grew up and visit Enid, OK at least once per month. If you have trouble getting it, just email me and I'll get you a book.
