The only Moody I was familiar with was Pearl. As far as knowing about her and her being a family friend. From what my mother remembered of Pearl though, she was either orphaned or abandoned. She was not sure which. Pearl lived with a family in Shattuck, Oklahoma who were fairly well off. She was kind of like their live in Nanny only she started at a very young age, helping around the house and keeping an eye on the youngsters. The family were the Engles (Ingles) who owned the Broom Corn factory in Shattuck. Pearl went to school with my mother and her sisters, she was a tad older than my mother and she graduated with Thelma RATLIFF from the NEW Shattuck Highschool. The year escapes me at this moment. I do not know if there were any other Moody children in the school, but I am thinking in my research I had come across a Moody family in the area, but since I could find no one knowing Pearl I did not persue them for other information. When Pearl Graduated she went to a business college in Oklahoma City, with my Aunt Thelma RATLIFF. Her fees, room and board were paid for by my Grand mother, Elsie RATLIFF. The money coming from her personal bootlegging adventures. In Aug 1927, Elsie drown in Wolf Creek and both Pearl and Thelma had to quite school and return to Shattuck. No money to support their schooling. My Aunt became an unwed mother in those days a big no no and was sent to Kansas by Dr. Newman and her dad (Joseph RATLIFF) to hush things up. From that time I do not know what really happened to Pearl. I know Pearl is not who you asked about but it is likely that Pearl had siblings, maybe even younger ones who may be still living. If the children were orphaned, abandoned or farmed out, they may have been distributed amongst other families in or near Shattuck. It would be worth a few hand written letters to the Old folks homes in the area of ELLIS County, OK to see if you hit on someone who remembers your MOODY.
