James Edward Cox Family homesteaded in Dewey County just outside Oakwood-1895. I have copy of the patent and pictures of the family in front of the dugout. She died just after childbirth in June 1902. He became ill, went back to KS and died in Dec. 2 children (1 of which was my grandfather-William L. Cox) tried to keep the farm but eventually left. The mother was buried in Oakwood Memorial-by the lodge members of which he belonged-the Butte Lodge-(I have copy of it). She had to have been one of the first to be buried there. We put up a new headstone. Two children stayed (1 eventually in Perry), 2 children went to live in KS.A neighbor, A.L. Slayton said the baby went to a family in Oakwood. We would like to know if there is anyone who knows what happened to the baby. Does anyone want to know more about this family?
