Greetings from south Georgia! I have found information regarding the founding of Clinton, Ok on the internet. One of the founders was named J. L. Avant. Can anyone tell me what his actual name was? Could it have been James Lewis Avant? Any information on him would be appreciated so much. I am trying to determine if this is the same James Avant from GA who was married to my ggrandmother's sister. She died in Clinton, Ok, in 1929. Her name was Martha (Mattie) Octavia Beall Avant. Thanks for any information.
