The Western Plains Genealogical Society & The Western Oklahoma Historical Center, Inc. have new 2007 calendars for sale with early 1900's photos of downtown Weatherford and historical dates of the area.
The Calendars are selling for $10.00. Funds will help us maintain the research center.
our groups used last years Calendar money to help us purchase a new microfilm reader/printer. It is Wonderful.
Last year's calendar were photos of some of the early Schools in the area; Cedar Schoolhouse, Hopewell, 1903-1951, Friesen School Dist 12, Weatherford Public schools 1910, Missouri School 1896- 1919, Old Sod & Stone School near Custer City, teacher Lean Hoyt, Enterprise, Friesen School 1914, teacher Mr. Scovil, Little Red School house, Skip Out school ? near Skip Out lake, Roger Mills Co., Locust Grove Dist 48, 2 miles west of Custer City on Hwy 33, Missouri School 1920 -1952- moved to Means park & used by the Boy & Girl Scouts at Scout Hut until 2004. We have abt 12 of the Early School CAlendars left.

Our research center at 520 West Main, next to the old Cedar Schoolhouse in Heritage Park, corner of 5th & WEst Main, 1 block north of Weatherford City HAll & is open- Tues. afternoons 2-4, Thur evenings 6-8 pm, & Sat mornings from 10 - 12 noon.
Our Genealogy Society will have our Beginner workshop on Jan. 27th. We meet at 9:30 - 11 then planned a trip to the Oklahoma History Center in OK CIty. Come join us.

March 3- 10th we host our 2007 Heirloom Quilt Show in the Cedar School. Author Judy Howard, "Centennial Quilts, Oklahoma History in Quilts" will be speaking and showing a power point presentation of the Centennial Quilts Exhibit.
