Floyd Leroy Oldham
Floyd Leroy Oldham, 93, of Purcell went home to see his Lord Sunday, February 1, 2009 in Purcell. He was born Oct. 31, 1915 in Vinita, Oklahoma. He was the 2nd child of nine children born to Dean Clark Oldham and Alma Greeley Oldham. Floyd grew up in South Oklahoma City in the Stockyard community. He later married Lena Mae “Sheena” Allen in 1938 and together raised two children.
Floyd worked most of his life as a welder. He worked 30 years for B.S. and B. manufacturing Co. in Oklahoma City. After 1969 he worked for himself doing various welding jobs also buying and selling cars. In 1973 he moved to a small farm near Wanette, OK., and while living there he was a member of the Wanette Baptist Church.
In 1995 he moved to Purcell and attended the Johnson Road Baptist Church which he proudly had a part of help building. In his later years, when he couldn’t drive anymore, he walked to the Heartland Baptist Church in Purcell.
Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, buying and selling horses, raising cattle and tinkering around his shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.C and Alma Oldham; wife, Sheena in 2001; daughter, Judy Delores Hubbard in 1998; two brothers, Carl and George Oldham; and one sister, Ethel Harmon.
He is survived by one son, Allen Oldham and wife, Janis, of Norman; son-in-law, John Hubbard of Luther; four brothers, J.C. Oldham and wife, Betty, Earl Oldham and wife, Colleen, Earchel Oldham and Roberta Jean and Eugene Oldham and wife, Virginia, all of Oklahoma City; one sister, Darlene Henson of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Kimberly Stanford, Nathan Hubbard, Heather Oltermann and Mitchell Hubbard; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be today (Thursday), February 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Officiating will be the Rev. Wayne Brown. Pallbearers will be Nathan, Mitch and Zach Hubbard, Chris Aldridge, Denny and George Oldham and Kasey Oltermann.
Would like to have them on the 1920 and 30 census.
