Schaffer's living on Cimarron River in NM, near Kenton

My grandfather, Carl Schaffer, and family used to live on a ranch near the Cimarron River, about 5 - 10 miles from Kenton, OK., where they had a post office box.

Either the ranch he lived on, or one near by used to belong to either my great grandfather, Henry Schaffer, or my 2nd great grandfather, Alexander Schaffer.

Is there anyone who can give me some information on this family.

Also, I can remember my mother taking a picture of us kids setting in a rut made by wagon wheels, which if I recall correctly, were supposed to be a part of the Santa Fe trail, can anyone shed some light on this.

It seems Alexander Schaffer worked on a large ranch in that area, if I am not mistaking. I want to say it was the Berry Ranch. Does anyone have any information on this as well?

Any information would be greatl appreciated.

Thank you,
Patricia
