Former City Man Dead
Funeral services were held at the Wilson Assembly of God Church Monday for ELIJAH LEE DUNCAN, age 73, of Healdton, who died Friday night in an Ardmore hospital. Rev. HORTON MCDANIEL of the church officiated with burial in the Hewitt cemetery directed by Leslie funeral home. Duncan was born in Hill County, Texas, Jan. 14, 1894, and had been a resident of Carter County most of his life. He is survived by his wife, LIVIA, of the home; sons, E. L. DUNCAN and HERBERT DUNCAN, of San Jose, California; six daughters, CHRISTINE DALTON of Sinclair, Calif., RACHEL DUNNIGAN and JANIE DEAK of San Jose, Calif., FRANES METTA and DONNA PALMER of San Farel, Calif., and Mrs. MADELON WAY of Wilson; brother L. L. DUNCAN of Courtney; sisters, LILLIE ALLEN and LERA DUNN of Oklahoma City, MINNIE LAMBERT of Redwood City, Calif., and DOVIE YOCUM of Fresno, Calif., 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Former City Woman Died
Mrs. MAUD BAXTER, age 78, former well known resident of this area, died Dec. 29 at Half Moon Bay, California, following an illness of some years. She was the mother of MORRIS BAXTER, employee of Signal Gas Co. at Fox. Her body is being returned to Marietta for a graveside service at Lakeview cemetery, directed by Goodrich funeral home, Friday. Mrs. Baxter resided here until 1944 and reared her family here. She is survived by her son Morris Baxter of Fox; four daughters, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

JIMMDON RAGSDALE, MELVIN WILKINS, VIRGINIA ARNOLD, and JIMMY OGDEN were other college students enjoying the holidays.
Mrs. RAYMOND KIRKPATRICK was out hunting ‘sugar cure’ over the weekend. Seems her husband and his brother RUSSELL decided this was hog killing weather and were doing it up home style.

Russell Reunion
The RUSSELL family had a family reunion New Year’s Day in honor of their mother, Mrs. WILLIE RUSSELL and her grandson, JACKIE DEAN RUSSELL, who just arrived home Saturday night from active duty in Vietnam. The family gathered at the VIRGEL WEAVER home. Services for Mrs. J. B. CREWS
A well known former resident of western Carter County was claimed by death Jan. 5, in an Ardmore hospital, Mrs. J. B. CREWS, age 67, twin sister of Mrs. C. S. WATSON of 115 S. 5th. Funeral services were held Saturday in Bettes funeral home chapel in Ardmore with burial at Milo, by her husband, J. C. CREWS. Mrs. Crews lived at 805 16th Ave. NW in Ardmore. She was born at Macon, Tennessee, June 2, 1900. Her husband, JOSEPH BAILEY CREWS / CRUCE(?), preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1958. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ at Ardmore and a former resident of the Fox community. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. BETTY SPEAKE of Milo and Mrs. MARTHA TUNSTALL of New Orleans; three sons, Major BOB CREWS, USAF in Vietnam; JERRY DAN CREWS and JOE B. CREWS, both of Casper, Wyoming; three sisters, Mrs. MARTHA WATSON of Healdton, Mrs. ADA MCDOWELL of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. ESTELLE WILSON of Summerville, Tenn., and 14 grandchildren.
Mrs. McCaully
Word was received here by friends about the death of Mrs. GEORGE MCCAULLEY of Lindsay, California, who died while on a Christmas visit with relatives in Oklahoma. A brief funeral service was held in Chandler and her body was returned to Lindsay, Calif., for burial by her husband. She was the mother of the late GLYN MCCAULLEY, who was well known here. BRUCE MCCAULLEY is a son. The GEORGE MCCAULLEY family was an early day Healdton family.

Death Claimed Bud STEPHENSON
Funeral services will be Friday in the Healdton Missionary Baptist Church for A. C. ‘BUD’ STEPHENSON, resident of this area, who died Tuesday in an Ardmore hospital following a short illness. Burial in Mt. Olive cemetery will be directed by Bettes. Stephenson was born Dec. 12, 1893 at Brock, Indian Territory and lived in this area all his life, the past 58 years in Healdton. Surviving are one son, BILL STEPHENSON, of Ardmore, who was employed here at a local service station; daughters, Mrs. LORETTA DAVIS of Fort Richardson, Alaska, and OTHELLA BURNS of Madill; brother, A. V. STEPHENSON of Oklahoma City; sisters, Mrs. ADDIE DVIS of Oklahoma City and Mrs. IVA CORNETT of Fort Worth; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Attack Fatal to Pastor’s Father
Rev. T. ARNOLD DAVIS, pastor of the First Christian Church here, is in Uniontown, Pa., for the funeral of his father, THOMAS J. DAVIS, who died Saturday morning of a heart attack.
Area Pioneer Man Is Dead
Funeral services were held Saturday in the First Missionary Baptist Church on Main Street for DEWEY MERRITT, pioneer resident of this area who died Thursday in an Ardmore nursing home after month’s illness. Conducting the service was Rev. GEORGE MADDOX of the church. Burial in Mt. Olive cemetery directed by Reser funeral home. Friends served as pallbearers: I. D. COPENHAVER, OSCAR HUTCHINSON, LEM SMITH, BOB PRICE, CARL BROOKS and REGGIE HURT. Merritt, an uncle of Healdton police chief, BUD HUNT, was born in Burneyville, April 3, 1889, and was reared around Keller. He moved to Wirt in 1920 and to Healdton in 1923. He was a retired employee of the city here and was well known in the area. He is survived by his wife, LILLIE, of the home; a son, DOCK, of Healdton; daughters, Mrs. ONETA STITZ of Hartshorne and Mrs. CORDIE MCCORD of Healdton; a sister, Mrs. MAMIE LEE of Healdton; a brother, ROY MERRITT of Wichita Falls, Texas; a half-brother, WILL WEST, of Lone Grove, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Watts Rites
Funeral services were held in the Bettes funeral home chapel in Ardmore, Jan. 22, for FRANK WATTS, age 72, of the Veteran Home at Ardmore, who died Jan. 20, 1968, well known here. Conducting the service was Rev. LEROY RALEY and pallbearers were from the Veterans Home. Burial was in the Veterans Plot at Rose Hill cemetery. Watts was born at Homer, Indian Territory, Jan. 1, 1896, and died Jan. 20, 1968. He resided here at one time prior to moving to Ardmore. He was a Baptist and a member of the Masonic lodge. He is survived by two brothers, E. N. WATTS of Lafayette, La., and BERT WATTS of Winter Haven, California; two sisters, Mrs. RUTH TROUT of Davis and Mrs. ELLA BARKER of Cushing.
Death Claims RAY OLIVER
Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church in Healdton, Wednesday, for RAY VIRGIL OLIVER, age 38, of 302 D St NW in Ardmore, who died in an Ardmore hospital early Monday morning. He had been in ill health for some time. Conducting the service was Rev. HAROLD WATSON of the Baptist Church. Burial in Mt. Olive cemetery directed by Bettes. Ray was born at Clemscot, April 19, 1930. He married FAYE ROZZELL in Ardmore, Aug. 20, 1960. He was a disabled war veteran and a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Faye of the home; stepson, SAMMY RAY BOYDSTON of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. GUY OLIVER of Healdton; sisters, Mrs. LOTA HILL of Richardson, Texas, and Mrs. GUYLENE OLIVER of Electra, Texas; one brother, BILL of Greeley, Colorado; several aunts and uncles, including Mrs. BESSIE LEE TALIAFERRO in California.
Mrs. CLEMENT Died in California
Funeral services for Mrs. VALLIE B. CLEMENT, age 42, of Anaheim, California, were held recently. Mrs. Clement was a former Oklahoma City resident. She graduated from Healdton high school and attended business school in Centralia, Illinois. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Oklahoma City. Survivors are her husband, MELVIN of the home; daughter SANDRA of the home; sisters, Mrs. KENNTH CLARK of Del City and Mrs. WALTER M. SCOTT of Oklahoma City; and a brother, ED CLAPP, of Oklahoma City.
Graham by Mrs. LUCILLE RUTLEDGE
Mrs. MYRTLE BROWN flew to California to be with her sister, VIVIAN WAY, whose son, MIKE, was fatally injured in a car accident Sunday near Eastland, Texas, Mike had been visiting here and had started home when the accident happened.
RAY PONDER left for Fort Campbell, Kentucky to finish his tour of duty with the U. S. Army after a 30 day leave.
Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE WATKINS were honored with a wedding shower Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Graham.
Mr. and Mrs. DENELL HENDRICKS and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. TONY DEAN moved to Fort Worth where they are employed with General Dynamics.

Patterson Rites
Funeral services are being held today in the Bettes funeral home chapel in Ardmore for CLAUD E. ENGLAND, well known former resident of this are, who died in the Veterans Hospital in Sulphur, Tuesday. He was born Sept. 16, 1884 in Jack County, Texas, and lived in southern Oklahoma most of his life. A retired oilfield worker, he was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church, the Randlett Masonic lodge, and was a World War I veteran.
He is survived by a brother, MELVIN PATTERSON, of Lone Grove, half brother, JESSE MCMANUS of Rusk, Texas; four half-sisters, Mrs. ROSA VERNON of Oklahoma City, Mrs. BINNIE SMITH of Lone Grove, Mrs. POLLY SMITH of Odessa, Texas, and Mrs. MOLLIT MOPLEY of Andrews, Texas. Serving as bearers are members of the Masonic lodge with graveside Masonic rites at the Lone Grove cemetery.
Patrick Rites
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Healdton Pentecostal Holiness Church for a pioneer resident of the Healdton-Wilson area, JOE PATRICK, age 92, who died Sunday night in the Healdton Nursing Home after an extended illness. Rev. C. H. NORTH of the church conducted the service with burial in Mt. Olive cemetery directed by Leslie funeral home of Wilson. Mr. Patrick was born July 24, 1876 in Montague County, Texas, and came to Mill Creek, Okla., when a young boy. A retired farmer, he lived in the Wilson and Healdton area for 70 years. He is survived by his wife WILLIE of Healdton; five sons, H. E. and E. A., both of Bakersfield, Calif., P. E. of Fritch, Texas, R. D. ‘DICK’ of Wilson, and GEORGE O. PATRICK, a technician in an Oklahoma City hospital who resides in Midwest City; a daughter, LAURA HANCOCK of Bakersfield, Calif., a brother GEORGE PATRICK of Mill Creek, 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Stephenson Rites
Funeral services were held in the Comanche Church of Christ Tuesday for JOHN EDWARD STEPHENSON, age 80, well known former longtime resident of Healdton. He died Sunday in a Wichita Falls hospital after three weeks illness. JOHN BAKER of the Ryan Church of Christ officiated, assisted by BYRON DENMAN of the Comanche church. A graveside service was held in Mt. Olive cemetery directed by Morehead-Elsey funeral home. Stephenson was born Sept. 20, 1887 in Dymond(?), Texas and lived at Terral and Healdton before making his home in Comanche ten years ago. He married SADIE KING July 25, 1910 at Montague, Texas. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and operated a shoe shop here for years. He is survived by his wife of the home; six daughters, Mrs. ALLIE THOMAS of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. JOSEPHINE HILL of Duncan, Mrs. MOZELL SALMON of Seminole, Texas, Mrs. RUBY LAKE of Worland, Wyoming, Mrs. CHLOPESTA MCLAIH(?) of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. JUNE HOWE of Shawnee; one son, J. R. of Comanche; two half-brothers, O. STEPHENSON of California and TED STEPHENSON of Alma; two half-sisters, Mrs. AUDIE SMITH of Wichita Falls and SUSIE RIGGS of Lawton; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Former Wirt Woman Died
Funeral services were held Sunday in the Whitney, Texas, Church of Christ for Mrs. MYRTLE THOMPSON, age 74, well known former resident of Wirt and Healdton area, who died Friday morning of a heart attack. She was the widow of the late M. B. ‘BUFORD’ THOMPSON. Burial was at Whitney by her husband. The Thompson family resided west of Healdton for many years prior to Mr. Thompson’s retirement. She was a long time faithful member of the Shell St. Church of Christ here. She is survived by one son, ODELL of Whitney, Texas; one daughter Mrs. EVA RAE MURPHY, wife of GEORGE MURPHY of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Collision Takes Life Lawton Man
A Lawton man lost his life in a two-car accident Wednesday west of Zaneis on U. S. 70 on a bridge that crosses Redoak Creek. Dead is JAMES EDWARD GREEN, 30, driver of a 1968 Pontiac four door sedan. He was dead on arrival at Wilson with head and chest injuries. The Pontiac was headed east when it approached the bridge, the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and slid into the path of the truck and trailer headed west, driven by PAUL JAMES MERIDA, age 47, also of Lawton. Merida was taken to a Lawton hospital and treated for cuts and head injuries.
Rites for McLain Infant
Graveside services were held Wednesday in Mt. Olive cemetery for BRYAN KEITH MCLAIN, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. MCLAIN, who died Feb. 14 in the Ardmore Memorial hospital. The baby was born Feb. 13. Reser funeral home had charge, assisted by Bob Diggs funeral home of Pauls Valley. Survivors are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McLain of Healdton, grandparents Mrs. ESTELLE BASS(?) of Healdton and Mrs. U. MCLAIN of Ardmore.
Worker Died Beneath Boom
A Tishomingo man, GEORGE THOMAS SMITH, age 47, was killed Monday afternoon when a boom fell, crushing him beneath it. He was attempting to dismantle it when it fell. Smith was been beneath the boom for several minutes before the crane operator, CLIFTON HENDERSON, could free him. Smith was dead on arrival at an Ardmore hospital, from chest and neck injuries. The accident occurred just north of Wilson on the highway. He was an employee of Brewer & Michael Construction Co. of Holdenville.
Wirt Woman Dead
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Shell St. Church of Christ for Mrs. ART MURRAY, age 75, of Wirt, who died late Saturday afternoon in the Healdton Nursing Home after an extended illness. ROY HANNAH of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Healdton, conducted the service with songs by singers from the church. Burial in Mt. Olive cemetery directed by Reser funeral home. Mrs. MARY ELIZABETH MURRAY was born in Hyland, Texas, Aug. 8, 1892, and moved to Greer County, Oklahoma as a small girl, living there until moving to the Healdton area in 1926. She married ART MURRAY in 1921 at Breckenridge, Texas. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, McMary(?) Willis Fullington of Harrah, Mrs. RUBY LEE HESS of Huntsville, Missouri, and Mrs. MATELANA(?) MULLARD of Tulsa; two stepsons, RANDOLPH of Stockton, Calif., and HOWARD of Healdton; three brothers, HENRY SHIPMAN of McPherson, Kansas, JOHN of Vernon, Texas, and AZEL SHIPMAN of Burkburnett, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. ADDIE LEWIS of Elmore City and Mrs. ICIE MAY BAGLEY of Vernon, Texas, 29 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Murphy’s Mother Died
Mr. and Mrs. R. M. MURPHY left today for San Antonio, Texas, where they were called by the death of her mother, Mrs. CLARA E. PARKER, age 87, pioneer resident of that area. Mrs. Parker died early today after an extended illness. Funeral service will be held in San Antonio with burial at San Angelo. She is survived by nine children, some grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sister of Mrs. Pryor Dead
Mrs. MAUDIE PRYOR was called to Dublin, Texas by the death of her sister who died Wednesday night after an extended illness.
RICHARD PERDUE of Velma Killed in Vietnam War
Sp. 4 RICHARD W. PERDUE, age 22, Velma soldier reported Thursday as missing, was killed in action in the Vietnam War. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. LEON PERDUE, of Velma were notified in a telegram received from the Department of Defense last Thursday afternoon. Another telegram earlier in the day listed him as missing in action since Jan. 29. Perdue, a military policeman, was reported killed when the Viet Cong stormed the gate of the camp where he was on guard. He died from bullet wounds Jan. 30. He was with the 272nd Military Police Co. He had been in Vietnam since May 14, 1967, and had been in the Army two years. He was a 1964 graduate of Velma Alma high school. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife KATHY and six months old daughter ROBIN LYNN, who have been staying at Salem, Pa., while he was overseas. He had never seen his daughter. He was a nephew of L. A. PERDUE of Fox. The body will be received in Duncan early in the week.

Rites for Taylor
Funeral service will be held today in Waurika for RAY CLIFFORD TAYLOR, who died in a Waurika hospital Tuesday. Rev. THEO BENSON will officiated and burial will be in the Waurika cemetery directed by Worley Funeral Home. Mr. Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. TAYLOR, pioneer Jackson County residents, was born at Hedrick, Okla., May 29, 1904. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in pharmacy and also held a license to practice in Texas. The family moved to Altus in 1925 where he and his father owned Taylor Pharmacy. He went to Waurika in 1933 and was associated with ARTHUR GRUNDY and SAM GRUNDY in the City Drug Store. He married LILLYE MAY NELL of Waurika, Oct. 6, 1940. He served as Chief Pharmacist Mate with the U. S. Navy in World War II and was stationed on Okinawa. After service, Mr. Taylor returned to Waurika to resume his partnership in the City Drug Store. In December 1947, he sold his interest in that store and moved to Healdton where he bought the Grundy Drug Store. In 1959, he sold that store due to ill health, and in April 1961 they moved to Waurika after completion of their new home. He was a member of the Methodist Church and attended regularly while his health permitted. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Church building fund. He is survived by his wife; two aunts, Mrs. JESS BOYD of Oklahoma City and Mrs. G. R. IRELAND of Enid; and two uncles, ANGUS MITCHELL of Blair and LESTER MITCHELL of Midway City, California. Pallbearers: JAMES WAID, DON MORRISON, G. B. SNIDER, VESTER PHILLIPS, WILL HUTCHESON, all of Waurika, and KENNETH ECK of Healdton. Honorary bearers: B. C. BERRY, LAMBUTH HILLERY, GEORGE KEGLEY, DEWEY HEARNDON, all of Waurika; FRANK JOHNSON and EVERETT FORD of Healdton.

City Man’s Brother Died
Mr. and Mrs. ODIS JOHNSON of S. 3rd, attended the funeral in the Elmore City Church of Christ for his brother, CECIL JOHNSON, age 54, employee at the Sohio Gasoline Plant at Elmore city. He died early Saturday morning of a heart attack. Burial was at Elmore City. He was a pioneer resident of this area and a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife; six children, his mother Mrs. ANN JOHNSON of Elmore City, brothers, ODIS of Healdton and LEE JOHNSON of Plainview, Texas.
Wirt Family Moved to Town
Mr. and Mrs. HERSHELL WOOD Jr., who have resided near Wirt for some years, moved into her mother’s home, 321 Sinclair. Her mother purchased a large trailer house that she moved to the lot in the rear of the home and moved into it.

Jacobs Rites
Mr. and Mrs. EARL TRAMMELL received word of the death in Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas, of his cousin, WILLARD JACOBS, age 68, of Fargo, North Dakota. Burial was in Muldrow, Oklahoma, the old home of the deceased. A retired Santa Fe employee, he visited the Trammell home here frequently. He is survived by his wife, two sons and some grandchildren.
Former City Man Dead
Word was received here of the death of AL J. BECKER, age 89, of El Dorado, Kansas. A retired oil drilling contractor, he died last Thursday. He had lived there since 1919. He formerly lived in Healdton. He was born in Ohio and married EDNA ‘NAN’ ETHERINGTON at Okmulgee, Oklahoma in 1915.
Mr. and Mrs. BOB MARSTON of Broken Arrow were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. JOE TRAMMELL, of Graham, and of her aunt, Mrs. GERTIE WHITE, in the Healdton Nursing Home.
Mr. and Mrs. PHIL CARTMILL and family of Oklahoma City were guests of her mother, Mrs. LOIS ADAMS, and of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. ROBERT ADAMS.
Hall Rites
Funeral services were held Monday in the Freewill Baptist Church in Healdton for MORGAN T. HALL, age 85, of 617 McGraw, who died in the Healdton Nursing Home. He had been in the nursing home for two weeks. Conducting the service was ROY OAKLEY, assisted by the pastor of the church, Rev. RICKY DUNCAN. Burial in Mt. Olive cemetery directed by Bettes funeral home, with the Healdton IOOF lodge conducting graveside service. Hall was well known in this are, having been constable here at one time and janitor at the local post office at one time. He was born March 27, 1882 and lived most of the time here since 1945. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. HAZEL GOLSON of Garland, Texas, and Mrs. GERTRUDE THOMAS of Healdton; and one brother, CLAUDE HALL of Hydro.

Services Today for C. A. STILES
Graveside services will be held Thursday in the Hewitt cemetery for CHARLES A. STILES, who died Sunday in a hospital at Pasadena, Texas. A former resident of Wilson, he had resided at Pasadena the past 26 years. Reser funeral home of Healdton is in charge. He is survived by his wife, OLENE, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. NORMA JAN EVANS of Sacramento, California; a brother, LEONARD STILES of Wilson; two sisters, Mrs. DOLLY HENDERSON of Temple and Mrs. MARIE DE FARRAIR of Roseville, California.
Phipps Rites
Funeral services for Mrs. ELIZABETH C. PHIPPS of Healdton will be held Friday in the Blackburn Methodist Church. Mrs. Phipps died Monday in the Healdton Nursing Home after 18 months illness. She was born in Douglas County, Missouri, Oct. 7, 1884 and moved to Oklahoma in 1992. She married WILLIAM A. COBB in 1904 who preceded her in death in 1949. Mrs. Phipps lived in some areas of Oklahoma before moving to Okmulgee in 1952. She made her home there until moving to Healdton six months ago. A member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church, she married JOHN PHIPPS in 1962 who preceded her in death, April 4, 1967. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. PEARL UPSHAW of Concord, Mrs. OPAL WASHBORN of Tulsa, and Mrs. LELIA REYNOLDS of Healdton; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Interment will be the Blackburn cemetery directed by Reser funeral home of Healdton.
City Woman’s Mother Died
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Church of Christ at Wilson for Mrs. FANNY THOMPSON, age 77, mother of Mrs. GENE TUPIN of Healdton. She died Sunday in an Ardmore hospital. Conducting the service was HERSHELL HOWARD of the Wilson church, assisted by LESLIE MCGALLIARD of the Shell St. Church of Christ in Healdton. Burial in the Hewitt cemetery directed by Leslie funeral home in Wilson. She was born Aug. 16, 1890 at Dentonville, Arkansas and lived in the Wilson area since 1905. Survivors are one son, ALBERT THOMPSON of Wilson; three daughters, Mrs. BEULAH ARMSTRONG of Ringling, Mrs. GENE TUPIN of Healdton, and Mrs. MABEL HOLLOWAY of Wilson; brother, JOHN HARGROVE of Wilson; sister, Mrs. AGNES SCARBERRY of Wilson, 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
City Pastor’s Brother Died
Rev. and Mrs. C. H. NORTH attended the funeral Friday in Teacock, Texas, Baptist Church for his brother, J. W. NORTH, who died March 6 in a Lubbock convalescent home, following an extended illness. The deceased, age 75, was a member of the Baptist Church for 57 years and a painter. Surviving are his wife, son BILLY JOE; brother Rev. C. H. North of Healdton; stepbrother, GILES SOWELL of Davis, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, ALFRED, JAMES and BARNEY.

Kimberlins Attend Rite
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. KIMBERLIN, Mrs. WILLIAM FREEMAN, and JIM KIMBERLIN attended the funeral Friday in Wichita Falls, Texas, of A. W. KIMBERLIN’s nephew, JERRY KIMBERLIN, age 60, who died following an extended illness. Burial was in Crestview cemetery. The deceased was a resident of the Wirt community at one time. He is survived by his wife and a son in the home in Wichita Falls, one brother, and two sisters.
Musser Rites in Oklahoma City
Mr. and Mrs. G. L. MAPLES were called to Oklahoma City by the death of her daughter, Mrs. CORINNE MUSSER. The funeral was held today in Memory Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.

Auto Injuries Fatal to Woman
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Buena Park, California, for Mrs. OWEN T. REEDY, formerly Miss LORENE CHRON, who died from injuries received Saturday at Anaheim, California, as she and a lady friend, Mrs. PHILLIPS, were en route home from a church service. Their car was struck by another car that crashed into the rear of it when a tire blew out on the other car, causing to crash into Mrs. Reedy’s car. She sustained internal injuries, shock and both legs broken. She lived long enough in the hospital to tell how the accident occurred. Mrs. Phillips, the other lady, is in serious condition. Mrs. Reedy grew up here and was a graduate of Healdton high school. Her husband preceded her in death. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. L. CHRON. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. OLLIE TRAMMELL of Healdton and Mrs. GRACE WATSON of Lubbock; three brothers, FRED CHRON of Houston, Texas, SAN CHRON of Conroe, Texas, and GRADY CHRON of Healdton; and one son, JOE. Renaker funeral home in Buena Park, Calif., is in charge.
City Woman’s Mother Died
Funeral rites will be held Friday in the Church of Christ in Pomona, California, for Mrs. MYRTLE TAYLOR, age 85, mother of Mrs. O. W. BROOKSHIER of Healdton, who died Tuesday morning in Pomona after an extended illness. Mrs. Brookshier had been with her mother for sometime. Burial will be at Pomona. Survivors are seven children, and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. MAX WILKINS and son KELLY of Crane, Texas, were guests of their parents, the C. F. WILKINS and the A. C. WALKERS. Max was transferred to Crane by Sinclair Oil Co.
Mrs. J. A. MCVEAN of Odessa, Texas, and Mrs. ELBA SMITH of Durant were business visitors here this week. Mrs. McVean is a daughter of the last Mrs. NEVA LEE.

April 20 has been selected for the wedding of Miss LAQUITA SHIRLEY and LARRY MOORE at the First Baptist Church at Ratliff City. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. SHIRLEY of Pruitt City and he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. ROBERT MOORE of Maysville.
Former City Girl Killed
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Chapel of the Stufflebean Funeral Home at Pauls Valley for CHERIE ELAINE CLOUR, age 18, of Liberal, Kansas, with Rev. HAROLD WATSON of the First Baptist Church at Healdton officiating. Miss Clour was killed when struck by an automobile in Emporia, Kansas, where she was attending Emporia State College. She was born July 11, 1949 at Fox and attended the Fox and Healdton schools. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. RAY CLOUR of Liberal, Kansas. Survivors are her parents; three brothers, Ray Jr., CASEY, and TRACY, all of the home; her paternal grandmother, Mrs. MAE CLOUR of 514 Shell, Healdton; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. RETTE MOODY of Cyril, uncle, L. J. CLOUR of Healdton and an aunt, Mrs. ROY ARCHER of Healdton.

Tiny Girl Crushed by Truck
CHARLOTTE GRISHAM, little 2 year old Healdton girl, was fatally injured Monday morning when she was crushed by a Cooper Farms milk truck. She was pronounced dead on arrival by a local physician at his office. Police chief MERLE SALTHOUSE said the truck struck the child about 9 a.m. The driver said he was delivering milk, came back to the truck, and drove off without seeing the little girl in front of the truck. Other children were playing in the street. The girl is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES GRISHAM living in the southeast part of town. Grisham is employed by the Thompson Pump Co. The Grishams had lived in Healdton two months. Funeral services were held at Drumright. The child was born Dec. 19, 1965. Reser funeral home had charge. Survivors include her parents, sisters, DEBBIE, age 4, and DANA, age 4 months, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. MAXINE HOLLAND of Stroud and Mrs. OSCAR SHOUPE of Drumright.
City Woman’s Aunt Dead
Mrs. ROSE C. HENSON and Mr. and Mrs. FORREST HOMAS received word last Saturday of the death of Mrs. Henson’s aunt, Mrs. MAE KERLICK, in San Mateo, California, after a short illness. The body is being returned to St. Louis, Missouri, where service and interment will be held.
Baker Rites
THOMAS BURTON BAKER, age 71 of Gainesville, Texas, died early Sunday morning in a Gainesville hospital. He was a former oil field worker with the Jake L. Hamon Co. and had lived in the Healdton area for several years before moving to Gainesville when he retired in 1961. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville with the pastor, Rev. HARRY ROARK, officiating. Vernie Keel funeral home was in charge with interment in Fairview cemetery. Bearers: M. L. MCGOWAN, JESSE ATTEBURY, RUFUS IDEDIL, ROBERT GRAY, PAUL OSBURN, and MUGG PAWLESS. He was born in Montague county, July 24, 1896 and married Miss OZIE CALHOUN at Ringling, Jan. 21, 1921. Survivors are his widow; daughter, Mrs. W. H. PRUITT of Gainesville; son, WINFORD B. BAKER of Nacogdoches, Texas; brothers, J. D. BAKER of Fox and H. L. BAKER of Healdton; half-brother, A. R. MIDDLETON of Pasadena, Texas; sisters, Mrs. ROY WITHERS of Wirt, Mrs. RILEY SIZEMORE of Ringling, Mrs. EUGENE CAMPBELL of Tulsa; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, a step grandson and some nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Weaver Died in Texas
A well known former long time resident of Healdton, Mrs. FLORA WEAVER, died Monday in Fort Worth of a heart attack. She was a daughter of the late Rev. T. J. KNIGHT and Mrs. SARAH KNIGHT CORMANY. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Diamond Hills Methodist
Church with burial in Bluebonnet Hills cemetery. Rev. C. J. MCDERMOTT officiated. Mrs. Weaver and her first husband, ED ENGLAND, reared their family here. He died several years ago and is buried here. She later married MELVIN J. WEAVER and they resided at 2607 Moore St. in Fort Worth. Surviving are her husband, MELVIN, of the home; sons, CLAUDE ENGLAND of Dallas and JACK E. ENGLAND of Fort Worth; daughters, Mrs. J. T. CRAYCRAFT of Roswell, N. M., Mrs. DENNIS CORBY and Mrs. JOHN HAMPTON, both of Fort Worth; 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, ERNEST KNIGHT of Fort Worth, DAVID, RAYFORD, and T. J. in California; sisters, Mrs. FRANK PALAS in California, Mrs. LETHA BAUGH of Fort Worth, Mrs. ARTIS MILLER of Ardmore, Mrs. CARROL YOUNG of Arizona, and Mrs. AUDRY REVNEN in California.
Former City Woman Died
Funeral rites were held Saturday in the Southwest Baptist Church in Ardmore for Mrs. W. D. SIMMONS, age 70, of 815 Bixby, who died suddenly Thursday at her home. She had not been well for sometime. Conducting the service was Rev. WAYNE FITE of the church, assisted by Rev. CARL CHISM of the Carbondale Baptist Church in Tulsa. Burial in Rose Hill cemetery in Ardmore directed by Harvey funeral home. Mrs. SIMMONS, wife of BILL SIMMONS, former Shell Co. superintendent here, was born Sept. 3, 1897 near Gainesville, Texas. She was a resident of Ardmore for the past 12 years, moving there from Wilson. They had resided west of Healdton for many years. She married WILLIAM D. SIMMONS in 1923 at Perry and was a member of the Southwest Baptist Church in Ardmore and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors are her husband; brother, A. T. HUNTLEY of Chickasha, Mrs. W. E. BAIRD, a niece, in Texas, and a nephew, WELDON HUNTLEY of Detroit, Michigan.
