Two Healdton Boys Make Pets of Wolves
Healdton, July 1: GLENWOOD CHASE and ERAMMUS QUINN found two young wolves on the Chase farm a shot time ago while hunting. The wolves appeared to be about two months old. Since the discovery of the young wolves, the men and boys in the Chase community are spending their spare time looking for them.
Sold Choc to Deputy Sheriff
JESS MASON of the sheriff’s force arrested two negro men, SAM HALL and BOB TURNER, who operate a barbecue stand on East Main St., for selling choc.
Mrs. Bert Gaines’ Mother Passes
Mrs. BERT GAINES, 326 Fourth Ave NE, lost her mother Sunday. She passed away at the Oklahoma Confederate Home after having reached her 80th year. She had been an invalid for several years and for five years, had made her home here with her daughter. Funeral services were held at the Bettes funeral home Monday afternoon and the body was taken to Callisburg, Texas for interment. Mrs. ELIZABETH CATHERINE THOMS was the widow of the late Squire W. S. THOMAS of Cooke County, Texas. He passed away in 1896.… active in local politics and served many years as justice of the peace. Mrs. Thomas was born Feb. 14, 1849, in Nacogdoches County, Texas. Two sons and three daughters survive, all of whom were with her when the end came. They are J. O. THOMAS of Dallas, FRANK THOMAS of Duncan, Mrs. BERT GAINES of Ardmore, Mrs. C. L. BROOKS of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. CARRIE RICHARDSON of Tyler, Texas. Services were conducted by Rev. J. S. PRICE of the Calvary Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Thomas had spent her life in the Methodist Church and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
In Memoriam
…the funeral service of A. L. LASLEY was read by Rev. GROVER HILL. Mr. Lasley passed away at the Hobart hospital June 25. Death was due to bronchial pneumonia and complications. Pallbearers: M. H. BRATCHER, H. S. HORTON of Ardmore, EDD JONES, ALLEN JACKSON, CORT SLOAN of Mountain View, and MATT SLOAN of Brinkman, Okla. ALBERT LEE LASLEY was born near Berryville, Ark., Oct. 17, 1869. He lived in Arkansas until Dec. 1875 when he moved with his family to Stonewall, I. T. where they lived three years. The family then moved to Texas where they made their permanent home at Post Oak. On March 19, 1893, Mr. Lasley and CORA SLOAN were united in marriage by Rev. E. W. EPPS. They resided at Post Oak until 1904 then came to Oklahoma. To this union three children were born, two boys and a girl. The daughter, Mrs. EMMA LEE TALLEY resides near Sedan. The sons, RANDOLPH LASLEY lives in Ardmore, and OMBRA LASLEY in Los Angeles, Calif. A. L. Lasley accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the Missionary Baptist Church in 1885 and has been a consistent, faithful Christian over 44 years. … Besides his wife and three children, Mr. Lasley is survived by three grandchildren, JAMES ALBERT TALLEY of Sedan; GLORIA JANICE and JOE LESTER LASLEY of Ardmore who spent summers with their grandparents. There are four brothers, G. W. and OREL LASLEY of Ardmore, SAM of Bowie, Texas, and J. W. LASLEY of Tucson, Arizona; three sisters, Mrs. H. W. HORTON of Ardmore, Mrs. J. A. SMITH of Deming, N. M., and Mrs. HARRY BURNETT of Oklahoma City, and two step-sisters, Mrs. JENNIE CANNON of Rocky, Okla., and Mrs. LAURA STRAYLEY of Chickasha.
Former Ardmore Woman Laid to Rest
Services were held Sunday afternoon at Dixie for Mrs. ELLA LEE MASSEY of Vernon, Texas, a former Ardmore woman. Burial was directed by Harvey Bros.

James F. Lewis Passes
JAMES F. LEWIS, member of the city police force for the past eight years, died suddenly at his home Tuesday on B St. SE. An attack of acute indigestion was the case. He had been feeling ill for several days… death came as a shock to family and friends. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon with interment at Rose Hill cemetery. Judge I. O. LEWIS of Madill, brother of the deceased, will be here and other relatives here from McKinney, Texas. Surviving Mr. Lewis are his wife and little son, LEONARD, who is the home with him, and the following children by a former marriage, Mrs. D. E. BAGGETT of 335 E St NW; Mrs. LEONARD D. Mrs. ROBBIE STEPHENS, outgoing Noble Grand of the Healdton Rebekah Lodge, is moving to Vernon, Texas this week, and the members of the lodge surprised her with a handkerchief party. H. E. KEEN of Vernon, Texas came to visit his mother Mrs. W. E. BRICKER. He will remain here to work in the oil fields. Mr. Bricker is in Pampa, Texas, considering a future location.
Mrs. ELMER H. SIMONS is recovering from surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. CLYDE CARLTON and two children, Mr. and Mrs. SANFORD NEWMAN and baby drove to Duncan to spend the day with Mr. Newman’s parents Mr. and Mrs. ROBERT NEWMAN.
Mr. and Mrs. H. MOORE are in Duncan where he entered into partnership with JAMES ADCOCK, formerly of Healdton, in a grocery business.
Mrs. BILL JOHNSON is visiting her parents in west Texas.
MARY ALEXANDER was taken to the Von Keller hospital at Ardmore for surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. ROBERT LANGSTON and children, and niece, Miss HELEN LANGSTON, of Oklahoma City visited the J. H. LANGSTON home.
Mrs. CARL TAYLOR and little daughter of Honey Grove, Texas, returned home and her mother, Mrs. CORA L. DOWLIN, will visit them in Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. C. A. JONES recently of Wilson rented the Humphreys residence in north part of town. He is the clerk at the depot, taking the place of Mr. GUMM.

Mrs. W. A. LEWIS is recovering from a sprained ankle.

Tribute Is Paid to JOHN A. MCCARTY
Healdton, July 2: Funeral services for JOHN A. MCCARTY, a former Healdton business man who died in a Wichita Falls, Texas, hospital, were conducted here Monday afternoon with Harvey Bros. of Ardmore in charge. McCarty’s death was caused by blood poisoning resulting from a slight cut on the right leg. He was taken to the hospital at Wichita Falls where the leg was amputated but it was too late. The body was brought to Healdton to the home of his brother, S. J. MCCARTY, who lives just north of town where services were held Monday afternoon. McCarty is survived by his widow, his brother, and his parents. He was at one time an automobile salesman here and later owned a store in Healdton before moving to Wichita Falls.

Young Woman Dies in Ardmore
Funeral services for Miss HAZEL RENNIE, 24, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ABBOTT RENNIE of Pauls Valley, who died in a local hospital Tuesday afternoon, were to be conducted at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. LONG conducting the services, directed by Harvey Bros. Miss Rennie, who, with her sister, Miss ANNA BETH RENNIE, taught in junior high school here two years ago, underwent an operation for appendicitis two weeks ago. Complications set in which resulted in her death. Besides her parents, Miss Rennie is survived by three brothers, ABBOTT RENNIE Jr. of Graham, Texas, D. A. RENNIE and FRED RENNIE of Pauls Valley; three sisters, Miss ANNA BETH RENNIE, of Fairbanks, Alaska, Miss FLORENCE RENNIE and Miss EDITH RENNIE, both of Pauls Valley; her grandmother Mrs. A. S. MATTHEWS of Ardmore, uncles, SAM MATTHEWS and T. B. MATTHEWS of Ardmore and an aunt Mrs. MABLE BRODERSON of Ardmore… All members of the family attended the funeral except Miss Anna Beth Rennie who is teaching at Fairbanks, Alaska.

Found Dead
Wilson, July 4: Mrs. EDNA VIRGINIA OWENS, 34, wife of J. W. OWENS of Wilson, was found dead in her bed. Doctors pronounced death as result of leakage of the heart and said she had been dead for several hours when found by her husband, who had been sleeping beside her and found her this morning. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with Dr. CARL MOORE, pastor of the church, conducting the services. Burial will be in the Hewitt cemetery. .. She is survived by her husband and three small children, WALLACE 7, MINA LEKHA 6 and LLOYD AARON 4. Owens was recently elected high school janitor and the family was preparing to move Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. LAWRENCE EAKIN, bookkeeper of the First National Bank here, went to Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. HENSON and Mr. and Mrs. L. B. MASON visited the EUGENE WHITE home at Electra, Texas.
E. H. SIMONS is visiting his wife at the hospital at Wichita Falls.
CAMELLA JONES returned after visiting her grandmother at County Line.
Mr. and Mr. J. G. LOONEY and little grandson JACK LOONEY left for Mineral Wells, Texas to spend the 4th with their daughter, Mrs. L. C. HARDING and husband, then drive to Galveston. Mr. Looney is night watchman at the Magnolia shops and is being relived by CHARLES PAUL. ROY LOONEY and family will occupy the J. G. Looney home at the Magnolia camp and take care of the stock.
Mrs. STEADLIN of Medford is visiting her daughter Mrs. JEFF EWING.
Mrs. ELMO STONE entertained three tables of bridge at her home. Guests were Mesdames W. H. DIXON, HARRY OWENS, L. B .MASON, L. E. CREEKMORE, Jr., C. W. HENSON, GLEN THOMPSON, U. L. HARRIS, J. H. CAMERON, ROMEY DAVIS, SHANNON COX, JEFF EWING, and Steadlin.
The Social Union of the First Christian Church met in the D. F. SINGLETON home with seven members present, Mesdames J. MCQUEEN, LEONARD EVANS, STEADMAN STARRETT, BILL DOWNTAIN, WILLIS REYNOLDS, CARL GAMBLE, and the hostess.
HARRY ALLEN, a student from Yale University, whose home is in Massachusetts, is spending the summer in Healdton. He has a position with the Snowden-McSweeney Gas & Oil Co. He is a nephew of Mr. MCSWEENEY and returned to Yale for his junior year.
Mr. and Mrs. RALPH GRAY of Coleman, Texas, are visiting the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. RAKESTRAW. Mr. Gray was called to the bedside of his brother in a hospital at Oklahoma City.
Mr. and Mrs. ROY KUHLMAN left Sunday for Blue Earth and other points in Minnesota where they will visit her relatives. He is doing research with the Western Electric Co. with headquarters at Washington, D. C. They came to visit his mother Mrs. ELLA KHULMAN and her sisters, Mesdames H. P. BEAL and J. H. HIERONYMUS and other relatives then stopped to visit PAUL HIERONYMUS in Ardmore.
BILL DOWNTAIN is hobbling around on crutches after six weeks in bed with a broken leg. He has been absent from his work at the post office.
FRENCHIE LEWIS WOOD and FRANK BACHMAN returned from the Ardmore lake with fish.
Mayor JOHN MCCAIN and Mrs. B. E. DALE, city clerk, attended court at Ardmore.
Mrs. JOHN KILLIN and little daughter COLLEEN RAE of Wilson visited the FRENCHIE LEWIS WOOD home.
Mrs. OLEN COLTER and two little sons of Kansas City, MO., are visiting the ARLIE COLTER home west of town.
Mrs. EDD ERICKSON and son BENNIE returned from Fort Worth where they visited her mother who has been ill.
A sick baby girl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. WOOD of Wirt, is at the home of Mrs. J. W. STEPHENS to be near medical aid.
Mr. and Mrs. ANDY SIMS, daughter Mrs. IVA AULD and little son of Elmore City are visiting at the CROSS home north of town, then visit Mrs. ATLANTA STONE.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. LEWIS enjoyed a visit from his sister Mrs. W. H. OLGILVIE from west Texas. Mrs. Ogilvie’s daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. JOE HEAD drove by and took with them to Altus to visit Mr. Head’s mother.
A nine pound daughter was born Monday morning to Mr. and Mrs. B. B.HOLLON on the Coline lease.
A revival at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Old Healdton has Rev. PHILLIPS as pastor.

Milburn, July 3
Rev. W. D. THOMPSON of Caddo was in Emet Friday in charge of the funeral services of J. B. DODD, at his request two months prior to his death. Rev. STIEGLER also of Caddo was present.
News of the marriage of Miss LOIS HUNNICUTT of Durant and C. E. MEEKER also of Durant was received here. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LLOYD HUNNICUTT and lived in Milburn prior to moving to Durant.
Mrs. Nelson’s children from Texas are at her bedside, doubtful to her recovery.
Funeral
Funeral services for J. B. DODD of Coleman were held Friday afternoon at the Baptist Church in Emet with Rev. W. D. THOMPSON of Caddo… The deceased was born in Monroe County, Tennessee, November 1854, professed hope in God at age of 19, married Dec. 3, 1875 to Miss ELIZABETH THURMAN. He died at the home of a son, E. J. in Coleman Friday morning. Pallbearers were old friends from Emet and Coleman. Mr. Dodd had been in ill health for years and recently suffered a stroke of paralysis. He leaves four sons, J. C. DODD, oldest and in west Texas, unable to be get here; E. J. DODD, P. G. DODD and W. O. DODD, of Coleman, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Mrs. W. E. CAMPBELL of Oklahoma City, a granddaughter, arrived minutes after the service was over. Rev. STIEGLER of Caddo assisted the services.
Wedding
Miss KATHELEEN PATE of Milburn and JOE MARTIN of Loco were married June 16 in Waurika. She is the youngest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E. G. PATE and was reared here, attending Murray State at Tishomingo and finished at Southeastern State at Durant, taught at Alma one term then at Nida. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. MARTIN of Loco and is employed near Healdton.
The Durant chapter of the Eastern Star held a service in memory of Mrs. CENIE BEATY, who formerly lived here and active in public affairs. After the death of her husband, she made her home with Mr. and Mrs. COX in Durant.
Death
Mrs. NELSON, who had been ill for several weeks, died at her home Sunday afternoon and her body was sent to Wolfe City, Texas, for burial. All children were present at her death.

Two Fatalities in Grady County
Chickasha, July 5: Two fatal accidents marked the Fourth of July in Grady County. An auto accident on the highway near Minco took the life of EUGENE PERISH / PARISH, 4 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. PERISHof Bethany, and the body was taken to Bethany for burial. OSCAR WELLS, negro, attempted to dislodge a shell in a pistol that he was trying out when the shell exploded and severed an artery in his leg. He died shortly later.
Funeral for Wreck Victim
Altus, July 5: Funeral services will be held late today for TOM WILHITE, 23, who died yesterday from injuries received in a car accident between Spearman and Perryton, Texas. GEORGE HUNTER, also of Altus, who was seriously injured in the accident, is improving. Wilhite is survived by two brothers, Z. G. WILHITE, instructor in state preparatory school at Tonkawa, and J. L. WILHITE of Altus, and two sisters, Mrs. J. N. BLANKENSHIP of Hess and Mrs. R. E. JONES of Altus.
Murder Charge
Wewoka, July 5:A charge of murder against FRANK HINTZ in connection with the death of LEE MILLER at Seminole yesterday was being prepared.
Dies from Heart Attack
Blackwell, Okla., July 5: S. STRONG, 73, old time resident of Blackwell, died here today following a heart attack. He had been in the real estate business here for years and was justice of the peace at various time.
Body of Texas Man Found
Altus, July 5: The mangled body of S. W. HOLLIS of San Angelo, Texas, foreman of a bridge building gang, was found near the Orient RR tracks ½ mile east of Odell, Texas today… investigations of Hollis’ death were started at once.
Farmer Arrested
Altus, July 5: S.B. SCOGGINS, farmer near Olustee, was arrested and held in Jackson County jail for officers from Clarendon, Texas, who wanted him on murder charges. He will be questioned in connection with the death two years ago of JOHN SLAUGHTER, night watchman at Clarendon. Scoggins denied any connection.
Altus Woman Dies of Burns
Altus, July 5: Mrs. MAY HUMPHREY, 65, died late last night of burns received Wednesday while burning trash in her back yard. She never regained consciousness after receiving the burns. Funeral services are to be this afternoon with Rev. S. H. BABCOCK, pastor of the Methodist Church, in charge with interment at Altus cemetery. Mrs. Humphreys is survived by her husband, JOHN V. HUMPHREYS, a son L. L. HUMPHREYS of Canadian City, Texas, and a daughter Mrs. C. B. GAUNT of Wichita, Kansas. Mrs. Humphreys came here 15 years ago from Montgomery Co., Missouri.

Funeral
News of the death and burial of J. B. DODD, an old settler of Johnston County, was reported Saturday. Mr. Dodd was 75 years old and spent the past 25 years in this county. His illness was of months’ duration, stroke of paralysis, the second stroke caused his death Friday morning. The remains were buried at Emet with Rev. THOMPSON of the Baptist Church at Caddo preaching the funeral service. Mr. Dodd is survived by four sons, J. C. DODD of west Texas, ED J. DODD of Coleman, J. O. DODD of Coleman, W. O. DODD of Milburn. He was as member of the Missionary Baptist Church since age of 19.
Mother of Former Mayor Succumbs
Mrs. GEORGE COTNER, mother of a former mayor, the late JAMES A. COTNER, and sister of Miss M. ELEANOR ALLEN, superintendent of Bloomfield Academy, died at her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Thursday morning. Word of the death was sent Miss Allen, who was with her sister, by telegram to Mrs. KATIE HAMPTON, who is charge of the academy during the absence of Miss Allen. Mrs. Cotner was about 70 years of age and suffered from asthma, which caused her death. Funeral services will be at Colorado Springs. It was on July 21, a year ago, that the only son of the family, JAMES A. COTNER died. His home was in New York and he was passing the heated season in Colorado when illness caused his death. The only remaining child is Miss MAIZE COTNER, who makes her home with her parents. GEORGE COTNER survives. The Cotners came here from Indiana.

HAROLD J. SKIPWITH and Miss BEATRICE DAVIS of Alpine, Texas, were married June 29. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. SKIPWITH of 621 Douglass Blvd. She is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. R. A. DAVIS of Alpine and was supervisor of public school music last term in Corpus Christi. He is a paving inspector of state highway dept. in Texas. They will live at Ballinger, Texas.
Milburn, July 6:
Mr. and Mrs. LYNN NELSON returned from Wolfe City, Texas where they attended the burial of his mother who died at her home here Sunday.
JESSE W. REINHARDT Laid to Rest at Hewitt
JESSE W. REINHARDT, who was born in Little River County, Arkansas, April 2, 1871, died at his home 1 mile east of Hewitt July 4, age 58 years. Funeral services were held at the Hewitt cemetery with Rev. O. HAMBLIN of the Healdton First Baptist Church officiating. Masonic services were held at the grave. Reinhardt was a pioneer in the Hewitt oil fields. For years he was road overseer until forced to give up the work on account of ill health. Death was caused by a stroke of paralysis which he suffered about a year ago. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. W. R. DUNCAN and Mrs. W. D. HARREL, and son J. B. REINHARDT.

Two Killed in Motor Accidents
Mrs. MARY HOGGATT, 69, of Mehan(?) was crushed to death in an accident seven miles north of Chandler.
ALLEN BUSBY, 47, of Allen was killed last night when his car plunged down a 40 foot embankment 8 miles south of Holdenville. W. M. TATE, also of Allen, who was riding with him, received bruises.
In Need
GERALD COFFMAN, farmer near Springer, whose house was destroyed by fire June 30, is need of household goods. Neighbors of the farmer are building a house. Five people are dependent on Mr. Coffman.
Young Texas Man Drowned at Okmulgee
Okmulgee, July 8: ALVIN DAVES, 22, of Channing, Texas, employed by the Carter Oil Co. at Seminole, was drowned at Greenwood Lake near here last night. Young Daves, guest of BERNARD MORONEY of Okmulgee, went to the lake to swim with his host and others. He dived in and struck his head, rendering him unconscious, drowning. He was the son of Z. H. DAVES, Channing merchant.
City Marshal and Bootlegger Killed
Camden, Ark., July 8: E. E. MARSH, city marshal, at Chidester near here and WALTER PATTERSON, alleged bootlegger, were shot to death in a gun battle which grew out of a liquor raid near Chidester last night. Marsh was said to have been slain by Patterson who in turn was killed by another officer constable LUTHER MEEKS.

Funeral services for Lloyd Butler, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. F. BUTLER of Graham, were conducted in the Graham cemetery Monday afternoon with Bettes funeral home of Ardmore in charge. The child, who died in an Ardmore hospital Sunday afternoon, is survived by his parents and a sister BONNIE RUTH. The Butler are farmers in the Graham community.
Struck by Ball
Ponca City, July 8: TALTON HIGGS, a player in an Arkansas City negro baseball team, died last night in an Arkansas City hospital after being struck in the head ingame here yesterday with the Ponca City Independents, Higgs had gone to bat as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning.
Wounded
WALTER BAKER, negro, was painfully wounded when he was attacked by BERTHA CRUTCHFIELD, negro, late Sunday night on East Main. He was taken to the Hardy sanitarium where his wounds were dressed. JOHN STROUD, patrolman, arrested the woman and she is being held in jail. She had figured in several brawls in East Ardmore.

Enid, July 8: Soon after voodooism was invoked, the body of ALBERT MCDOWELL, 40, negro, was recovered from the University Lake in which he drowned Friday….

Miss FLORRY CUMMING and GERALD EASTWOOD DUFTON were married June 20 at Madill. She is the daughter of Mrs. J. B. CUMMING of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and has lived in Ardmore years. He is the son of Mrs. A. C. DUFTON of Liverpool, England, formerly lived here. They will live in Dallas.

ARRINGTON, 22, of Graham, who died in a local hospital Sunday night following an operation for appendicitis, were to be conducted in the Graham cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Honey in Attic
Y. B . LYNN of 225 F St SW discovered about 40 pounds of honey stored away in the top of his house. The bees had stored the honey between the floor of the attic and the ceiling of the room beneath…the bees were finally removed by EUGENE BERRY who worked Monday and Tuesday, filling two hives.
Found Dead in Bed
Mrs. MINNIE WILLIAMS, a pioneer resident of Ardmore, who lived with her daughter Mrs. EMMA WAGONER, was found dead in bed Thursday morning. Doctors pronounced heart failure. The body is at the Bettes funeral home. Mrs. Williams is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Emma Wagoner of Ardmore, Mrs. C. W. ROBERTS of Graham, Mrs. S. H. ROBERTS of Ardmore, and Mrs. L. L. ROBERTS of Ardmore, son, ED WILLIAMS of Ardmore; three granddaughters, OPAL WAGONER, RUBY WAGONER and PEARL WAGONER.

Woman Succumbs to Injuries
Mrs. DICIE HALL, 88, of Nelda, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. F. FISHER at Lone Grove, Thursday afternoon, of injuries when she fell off a porch while visiting her daughter. She succumbed to internal injuries. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Nelda cemetery with Dr. SAVAGE of Nelda officiating, directed by Bettes funeral home. Children surviving here are Mrs. F. Fisher of Lone Grove, Mrs. EMANDA O’NEAL of Italy, Texas, D. D. HALL of Levelland, Texas, and J. H. HALL of Nelda.

Seven Person Drowned
Moselle, Missouri, July 15: Mrs. MARIE BECKMAN, 28, her four children, ages 15 months to seven years, her mother and her brother were drowned in Pinoak Creek southwest of here yesterday when a five foot wall of water from a cloudburst overturned their automobile and swept them to their deaths. An eighth person, CLARENCE STAHIGN of Desoto, was killed when struck by lightning while playing ball.

Dr. Harrison’s Father Passes
Dr. F. A. HARRISON left for Clinton, Missouri, with the body of his father, H. M. HARRISON, who died at his son’s home here Saturday night, following an illness of eight weeks. The funeral will be Monday afternoon at Clinton, which is the home of the elder Harrison who was here on a visit. Pioneer Woman of Ardmore Passes
Mrs. E. K. GRUNERT, Ardmore pioneer, died early Thursday morning at her home, 615 West Main St. She had suffered from a complication of diseases, but a heart attack caused the death, physicians said. Mrs. Grunert was the mother of the late E. H. GRUNERT who died May 18. She was the mother of ARTHUR GRUNERT, county judge, and Mrs. HUGH MCINTYRE of Ardmore. Besides her husband, she is also survived by a granddaughter, FREDA GRUNERT, baby daughter of Judge and Mrs. GRUNERT; two sisters, Mrs. J. W. HOFFMAN and Mrs. MARY R. JONES, both of Ardmore; and three brothers, HENRY KIRCHER of San Francisco, Calif., JOE KIRCHER of Long Beach, Calif., and J. J. KIRCHER of Huntington Park, Calif. Mrs. Grunert was born at Lafayette, Indiana, in 1863. She came to Ardmore in 1907 from Roswell, N. M. and would have been 66 years old July 19. She was a member of the Christian Church. The funeral will be conducted from the family home on West Main St. Wednesday afternoon with Dr. C. C. WEITH of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial at Rose Hill cemetery directed by Harvey Bros.
Tribute to Matt Wolf
Davis, July 10: Funeral services were conducted here Sunday afternoon for MATT WOLF, 78, pioneer and land owner of Davis, who died at his home Friday after an illness of several days. Wolf, who came to Oklahoma during Indian Territory days, had lived in Davis community since 1877, a prominent leader in all civic affairs.Shortly before his death, he joined the Methodist Church. He is survived by three children, MATT WOLF Jr., Mrs. JOHN SADLER and Miss FANNIE WOLF, all of Davis. Rev. Tucker of the First Methodist Church here, officiated, assisted by Rev. J. S. FERGUSON of the First Baptist Church and Rev. JULIAN of the First Christian Church. Interment was in the Davis cemetery.
Pioneer Farmer of Rocky Point
HENRY WILLIAMS, 75, pioneer farmer of Rocky Point community, died in a local sanitarium Monday afternoon after an illness of several weeks. Bettes funeral home will have charge. It is likely the body will be sent to Springfield, Illinois for burial where other family members were buried. Williams was the last of his family, his wife died some years ago.

Enid, July 16; ELSIE WAGGONER, 14, died in an Enid hospital from injuries received June 29. Her father and brother were killed in the accident when the Waggoner motor car was struck by a train.

Mrs. SARAH JANE ROSE died at the home of her son, C. L. ROSE, eight miles northeast of Pauls Valley, Sunday, July 14, aged 75 years. She leaves four sons, two in Texas, one in Anadarko and one in Pauls Valley with whom she made her home. All were present at the funeral which was held at the home Monday, July 15, conducted by Rev. GEORGE R. LEA of the Church of Christ. Interment was in made in Lewis cemetery arranged by Stufflebean-Meyer funeral home.
Young Man Passes Away
Services are to be conducted Thursday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. TULLOS, 1110 Third Ave NE, for their son BEN TULLOS, who died Wednesday night in an Ardmore sanitarium. Rev. JOHN S. PRICE of the Calvary Presbyterian Church will have charge of services with burial in the Rose Hill cemetery arranged by Bettes funeral home. Pallbearers: JOHN HETLER, ARTHUR CORNELL, D. L. LAMBERT, L. TURNER, W. G. FOSTER and LACY CAIN. He underwent an operation for appendicitis in June but developed trouble. He was 26 years old and is survived by his parents, his wife and baby daughter PATSY, two brothers, four sisters, three nephews and three nieces. Tullos was reared in Ardmore and was an employee of Brooks Burner Stove Co.

Mrs. CARRIE MAXWELL, one of Ardmore’s most beloved women, died Wednesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. ARTHUR C. STRACHLEY, 911 Stanley Blvd. Services were held Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church where Mrs. Maxwell was an active worker for years. Her body was taken to her early home at Princeton, Kentucky. Burial will be by the sideof her husband who has been dead for several years. Dr. CHARLES C. WEITH of the church paid beautiful tribute. She taught 50 years in Sunday School classes in Kentucky and Oklahoma. Pallbearers: L. H. LOVE, CHARLES ADAMS, FRANK GATES, GENE CRUCE, HARRY LEE CROCKETT, JOHN R. DEXTER, MORT WOODS, and CHARLES VON WEISE. Oklahoma City, July 19:The death of STANLEY KELLEY, 16 year old inmate of the state training school for boys at Pauls Valley, will be investigated…. Meanwhile, R. E. DAVIS, discharged training school guard, sought on a murder charge. Kelley died after being beaten by Davis.

W. A. RENSHAW, a pioneer citizen of this place, died in Ardmore Friday. He had been ill several weeks.

Negro Answers Final Summons
W. H. PHILLIPS, aged negro who was about 96 years old according to his sister, died here and the funeral was held Saturday. His sister, JANE BROWN, says he was her only brother and she is now the only living member of the family. Phillips was a young slave at Opelika, Alabama when the Civil War broke out and he cast his fortunes with the Confederacy and became active in the field…could do more foraging than a half dozen other men. He brought into camp big hens, potatoes, corn and sometimes young pigs…. In former days in Ardmore when there were Confederate soldiers in sufficient numbers of conduct local reunions, Phillips always took part in the parade, illustrating his principal activity in the war he swung a dozen hens across his bayonet and marched down the streets. His active years in Ardmore was spent as a shoe cobbler. He was full of wisdom, respect and had many friends.

Funeral
The death of Mrs. LULA W. REEDY at Fort Worth, Texas, on July 16, saddened her Davis friends. Mrs. Reedy had been at the hospital at Fort Worth several weeks following an operation. Mrs. Reedy was born in Palmeto, Georgia, Oct. 31, 1886, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. WILKERSON. She moved to Oklahoma with her parents in December 1899, and spent the rest of her life in Davis. On November 24, 1907, she married J. W. REEDY. Mrs. Reedy was active in civic and church work in Davis. She was a charter member of the Twentieth Century Club and was its president for the coming year. Since she joined the Baptist Church in 1908, she has been one of the foremost workers. She became treasurer of the W. C. T. U. She is survived by her husband, two sons, CAROL and JAMES; her mother, Mrs. W. O. Wilkerson, her sister Mrs. OMA NORMAN and her brother W. M. WILKERSON of Shawnee. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Reedy home with Rev. LEON JULIUS and Rev. F. A. TUCKER officiating. Interment was at Greenhill Cemetery.

Mrs. T. B MORTON, age 89, of Bartlesville, died at the home of her son, Dr. E. L. MORTON, at Hennepin. Mrs. Morton was born in Tennessee but moved to Arkansas when a small child. For the last 25 years she made her home with her sons, LOVE MORTON of Bartlesville and Dr. E. L. MORTON. Mrs. Morton is survived by four sons, J. D. MORTON of Hope, Arkansas, WALTER MORTON of Corpus Christi, Texas, Love Morton of Bartlesville, and Dr. E. L. Morton of Hennepin. She was an aunt of Mrs. P. T. FRANCIS and Mrs. W. A. ALLEN of Davis. Funeral services were held at the Morton home at Hennepin. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. D. V. NEELY and daughter of Anacortes, Washington, arrived to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. NORTHCUT. This is their first visit here since they left 18 years ago.
Healdton, July 20:
DRUSSILLA, four months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. JOE BRAY, died Thursday, July 18, and was buried that afternoon in the Healdton cemetery. Rev. LAID, family friend, officiated.
Marriage
At Blanket, Texas, July 10, Healdton businessman, P. G. RILEY, and Mrs. MATTIE E. BELL of that place were married. They returned to Healdton. Her son WAYNE BELL is with them. Mr. Riley has the Riley Music Store on the south side of Main Street.
Veteran Railroad Man Killed
Ardmore friends of R. L. CHATMAN, veteran railroad man, were advised of his death last week. Chatman was killed when a piece of pipe from a passing freight train fell and struck him as he was standing at a railroad switch. Chatman formerly lived here. He was an employee of the Rock Island RR and had a run out of Ardmore for years. While here, he had rooms at Mrs. W. J. ALEXANDER’S house on 130 C ST NW.
Hickman Case Settled
In the U. S. district court for the eastern district of Oklahoma setting at Durant, judge ROBERT L. WILLIAMS last week settled the case of MATTIE ROGERS, formerly WILLIS, against LONIE SCOTT, declaring LODIE WILLIS and LONE SCOTT as sole heirs of the HICKMAN WILLIS estate, value more than $200,000 and royalties from one of the richest oil producing property in the Healdton field. Blackwell, July 22: GRANT FLICK, 60, truck farmer of near Blackwell, was instantly killed late yesterday when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a auto driven by F. E. WEIMER of Okmulgee.
Loses Sight of Eye When Fish Slaps Him
Blackwell, July 22: C. H. ROSENBERRY, Tonkawa oil field worker, will lose the sight of his left eye as the result of being slapped in the face by a four foot garfish which he had caught on a line in the Salt Fork River and was removing the water with his hands. A spine entered his eye. The fish escaped.
Two Deaths from Drownings
Oklahoma City, July 22: JAMES ALBERT BRIGGS, 16, Bethany, drowned in Woods Lake near here while swimming. The Briggs family was picnicking at the lake. J. Y. TINCUP, 45, perished in flood waters of Rock Creek, NE of Pryor, while attempting to swim the stream.
Auto Accidents
Oklahoma City, July 22: Three men are in jail as the aftermath of two fatal auto accidents. JOHN and HUGHES GOBER, father and son, Norman real estate dealers, were arrested following an accident last night at the Norman road in which JOHNSON ANDREWS, 26, farmer near Norman, was killed. With the death of Mrs. ELSIE YOUNG, 22, of Seminole, from injuries received Saturday, officers re-arrested FRANCIS MILNER, 20, driver of the truck which collided with the Young car eight miles east of here. Mrs. Young was the mother of 1 month old twins.
Deputy Sheriff Badly Wounded
Pauls Valley, July 22: While A. L. PICKENS of Arbuckle, a deputy sheriff, lay in serious condition at the a Sulphur hospital, Garvin County officers were seeking BUD KING, alleged to have shot Pickens Saturday night at a dance hall near Arbuckle. King was believed to been wounded too.

Funeral for Mrs. Anna Eddington
Funeral services were to be held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. JO ANNA EDDINGTON, who died Monday night at her home, 1123 Twelfth Ave NE. Bettes funeral home has charge. Mrs. Eddington was the wife of S. P. EDDINGTON, pioneer of Ardmore who operates a suburban grocery store in northeast Ardmore. They have lived in Ardmore 32 years. Besides her husband, Mrs. Eddington is survived by four stepchildren, Mrs. ADDIE MAY HURT of Oakland, EWELL EDDINGTON of McMillan, Mrs. MINNIE WALL of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. ELMER DOLLAR of Enid, two brothers, a sister, and two grandchildren, VERNA and VERNON REESE of Maysville.
Mrs. MYRA HORNBECK
Mrs. MYRA HORNBECK died Monday evening at the home of her son, STANLEY HORNBECK, 405 Wheeler SW. She was 73 years old. The funeral will be Tuesday afternoon from Harvey Bros. chapel. Pallbearers: Dr. R. C. BLAGG, WILL EVANS, LAMONT BYERS, H. A. STANLEY and G. C. SEAGROVES. Mrs. Hornbeck is survived by her son, a half sister Mrs. ELLEN GUYNN of Dallas, and two grandchildren.
Two Girls Are Given Diplomas
Mrs. EFFIE WILKES, county probation officer, accompanied by Mrs. N. T. HUGHES and Miss MITTIE REED, attended the sixth annual commencement program Sunday at the State Industrial School for Girls at Tecumseh. EDNA MAE BLANTON and BEULAH KYLE were Carter County girls receiving diplomas.

Arthur Cornell
ARTHUR FRANK CORNELL, captain of Co. G, Oklahoma National Guard unit located at Ardmore, died early Wednesday morning in a sanitarium here. He had been ill several weeks and several operations were performed in an effort to save his life. A military service has been planned for the funeral which is to be conducted Wednesday afternoon from the First Baptist Church with Rev. W. LEE RECTOR. Masonic fraternity will have charge of services at the grave. Active pallbearers: RALPH CASON, J. J. WHEATLEY, J. M. SOMERVILLE, O. H. WOLVERTON, B. S. FROST and W. L. MYERS. … Frank Cornell was born at Durwood in 1901. He had lived in Ardmore 26 years and was employed by the Wirt Franklin Petroleum Co. He is survived by his wife, baby son, FRANK GILBERT; his parents Mr. and Mrs. F. D. CORNELL; a sister Mrs. ROBERT C. CAVINS, brother L. D. CORNELL, and another sister RUTH MARIE CORNELL, all of Ardmore. Burial at Rose Hill cemetery directed by Harvey Bros.
Veteran Dies at Little Rock
Relatives were advised of the death of W. W. MCCAULEY at the Veterans Hospital at Little Rock, Arkansas, Tuesday evening. McCauley was a soldier in the late war, serving in the 91st Division and had been in the hospital at Little Rock the past five years. Before going to war, he had lived in Ardmore for years. Those who survive him are his wife, daughter, SUSAN; two sisters, and a brother, Mrs. CLELIE CRIMM of Tulsa, Mrs. CLYDE WYATT of Dallas, and RUSSELL G. THOMAS. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon with Harvey Bros. in charge. ‘
Flier Killed in Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City, July 24: JOE A. GRAHAM, 26, of Enid, a flying school student, was killed instantly in an airplane crash at the municipal airport here, making a test flight for a commercial pilot’s license.

L. E. WINGER, an employee of Gypsy Oil Co. and a resident of the Gypsy camp north of Healdton, died Sunday morning, July 21. Collier Bros. will have charge, funeral plans delayed to await relatives from New York. His wife survives him. They had been residents at the Gypsy camp for some time. He was about 60 years old.

Funeral
EARNEST Y. MCGHEE, former Madill man who died at McAlester Tuesday from pneumonia, was buried in Madill Thursday afternoon. The body arrived and taken to the Watts funeral home. Mrs. ANNA MCGHEE, mother of the deceased, now with a daughter at El Paso, Texas, attended the funeral.
The Watts funeral home had charge of the body of JEFERSON O. SKILLERN, age 10 years old, of Milburn, Johnston County, Tuesday. Heart failure was the cause of death.
Mrs. MABEL CONWILL, 73, died at a hospital in Durant July 19. Mrs. Conwill was a resident of Kingston. Funeral services were held at the Nazarene Church at Kingston. Interment in Kingston cemetery directed by Watts funeral home.
Tribute Paid to Dead Veteran
Healdton, July 27: The funeral of RUSSELL ADAMS, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. ADAMS, was held in the Healdton cemetery Friday afternoon, July 26. Russell died in the University Hospital at Oklahoma City Wednesday, July 24, after an illness of 36 hours with inflamed brain. He went to work as usual Tuesday with no complaint, was standing near his truck near the well where he was to load when he suddenly fell to the ground, unconscious,taken directly to hospital. He was 36 years old. Collier Bros. of Healdton will have charge. He spent the greater part of his life in this field, belonging to a pioneer family, attending school at Dundee. He was a tool dresser for years, following from one oil field to another. He went to the Oklahoma City field about four months ago. Adams served 18 months in France during the world war and went over the top nine times…reached home June 28, 1919. He leaves his parents, two children, KELLEN TALMADGE, age 9, and RUTHA LEE, age 3; six brothers and three sisters. Attending the funeral were his brothers, M. G. ADAMS and wife, FRANK ADAMS all of Oklahoma City; R. S. ADAMS of Healdton, sisters, Mrs. CHARLES BOKIES and family from Enid, MILLY ETHEL MCELROY and ANNIE LEE WASNIG(?) both of Healdton. Two brothers, M. C. of Stigler and J. D. ADAMS, who is in the hospital at Norman, were unable to attend the funeral. Services at the cemetery were conducted by Rev. O. HAMLBIN of the First Baptist Church of Healdton. The burial service of the American Legion was given by his comrades.

ISAAC LARUE, who cheerfully gave his age as 82 and address at the Confederate Home, was issued a marriage license for him to marry Mrs. A. W. TALLEY, 76, also of the home.
Healdton Folk Succeed on Farm
Healdton, July 27: Mr. and Mrs. C. W. HENSON and daughter VIVIAN, and Mr. and Mrs. L. B. MASON spent the weekend at Denton, Texas where they visited Mr. and Mrs. J. L. LONG, former Healdton residents. Mr. and Mrs. Long have a beautiful home on the boulevard near Lake Dallas., operating a sheep and turkey ranch with an unique poultry plant in Denton.

WILEY COMER, 62, pioneer citizen of this county, died at his home in eastern part of town Wednesday morning. His death was sudden and he was alone at the time. He was an uncle of O. T. and HENRY COMER of Marietta. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the residence of Henry Comer, conducted by Rev. JOHN W. BERG of the Presbyterian Church. Interment at Lakeview cemetery directed by Burton funeral home.
Refinery Employee Passes
T. E. ‘PAT’ BURKE, 22, O. U. student and employee of the Imperial Refinery, died suddenly at the company plant here Friday afternoon. Heart failure was given as cause of death. … His body was shipped to Warren, Pennsylvania, where his father lives. Harvey Bros. prepared the body for shipment.

Mrs. BARTON ELDER was called to Altus Saturday to attend the funeral of her nephew.
News of the death of G. W. NEAL, an old and respected citizen of Mill Creek, reached us Friday. Mr. Neal was a pioneer of Johnston County, having moved here from Missouri some 30 years. The remains were buried at Mill Creek cemetery Saturday. He is survived by his wife and several children.

While attending school at Oak Grove and playing baseball during noon, nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. OTIS SKILLERN died suddenly supposedly because of the heat. Mrs. Skillern, who was teaching school at Oak Grove, summoned medical attention but the lad never revived. Burial was at Bold Springs cemetery.

Final Tribute Paid Mrs. W. S. WOLVERTON
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the First Methodist Church for Mrs. W. S. Wolverton, who died Sunday morning at her home on Second Ave. NW, following a prolonged illness. The services were to be conducted by Rev. J. T. MCCLURE, presiding elder of the Ardmore district, and Rev. R. E. L. MORGAN, pastor of the First Methodist. Burial at Rose Hill cemetery directed by Harvey Bros. Bearers: R. W. RANDOL, J. A. BASS, C. A. WHITEHURST, JOHN W. HOFFMAN, A. H. PALMER, and W. A. JOHNSON. Mrs. Wolverton was one of Ardmore’s most beloved pioneer mothers. She is survived by her husband and six children and a grandson who she reared in her home. She and Mr. Wolverton would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary had she lived until Feb. 23, 1930. They lived 36 years in Ardmore, coming here April 11, 1893. Mrs. Wolverton was born Sept. 22, 1850 in Tennessee… Her children include W. A. WOLVERTON of Mission, Texas; A. A. WOLVERTON and MARVIN S. WOLVERTON both of Ardmore; F. S. WOLVERTON of Dallas; and Miss ILEA WOLVERTON of Ardmore. H. W. WOLVERTON of Dallas is a grandson.

Pauls Valley, July 28: MANN RILEY, 40, widely known farmer, shot and killed himself last night at his home in Paoli. .. He was born and reared at Paoli, member of the Methodist Church, and Odd Fellows lodge. He is leaves his wife and a son who is married and lives at Oklahoma City.
Hastings Youth Fatally Injured
Sulphur, July 29: JOE BROOKS, a young man from Hastings, died late Saturday night in the Williamson hospital here from injuries sustained in a motor car accident. He was standing on the running board of a relative’s car, bound from Davis to Sulphur, when he was struck by an Ardmore truck.
