Has anyone heard of Belle W. Barker and her brother, Charles A. Barker?
I would really appreciate any help in finding out about my Great Grandmother, Belle W. Barker and her brother, Charles A. (Charley) Barker.
Belle was born in 1887, somewhere in Arkansas. She died in 1926 in Caddo County, Oklahoma.
I have Belle's census records in 1910 and 1920 in Oklahoma. I would really like to know about Belle's story prior to 1910...her and Charley's parents, background, and roots in Arkansas.
Their census records show that their mother was born in Missouri and their father was "Scot/Irish" and from "Scotland".
Charley was born on 15 Apr, 1889 in Booneville, Arkansas, according to his WWI Draft Registration.
I know that Belle lived in Carter County, Oklahoma in 1905 because I have a copy of her marriage license to my Great Grandfather, Luther Dawson "Doss" Lynch. They lived in Ardmore in 1910.Charley lived with them in Cass, Oklahoma in 1920.
Belle and Charley must have been very close. Just today I found out that they are buried side by side in Fort Cobb Cemetery in Caddo County, Oklahoma. (Thank you, "Marlene", who helped me in another genealogy.com forum!)
Luther surely immortalized this relationship in her inscription:
"Belle Lynch Barker, Sister to Charles A. Barker." Note that her maiden name and her married name are transposed.
Charley died three years later.
Charley's inscription reads:
"Charles A. Barker, brother to Belle Lynch Barker".
I really appreciate any insight you might have into my Barker relatives. I am trying to find out what happened to them for my aging father...and for myself.
