Hi ,

My Johnson family was in the same area as yours and I wonder if we have a connection.

My Band Rowland also known as Barbara Ann Rolen married an unknown Johnson in Arkansas . The couple either divorced or Mr Johnson died , as they have 2 children dau born 1867 & son born 1868 and by 1870 Band Rowland Johnson has remarried and is found on the Osage , Benton Co., Arkansas with her second husband Alexander Patterson.

I found a marriage record for Barbara Ann Roland and William Johnson in Franklin Co., Arkansas Nov 3, 1867.Don't know if this record belongs to my Band Barbary Ann Rowland, but her parents and siblings are enumerated in Crawford Co., Arkansas in 1870.

Her parents Samuel L. Rowland and wife Hannah Unknown :

Tom's mother Band Rowland Johnson Patterson Hendrix died in 1910 and is buried at Bloomfield Cemetery ,in Hendrix , Oklahoma .

Kemp ,called Kemp City or Kemp Town, Oklahoma name was changed to Hendrix Oklahoma sometime close to or after the tornado that flattened the town in 1914.

Something happens to Tom Johnson Sr. and he died about 1912. Etta or Ettie , his widow places all their children in an orphanage . His hers and theirs . Tom Johnson Sr and Etta Blackman have a son born 1912 in Oklahoma, he too is placed in the orphanage.

Ludie Johnson , the oldest son must be released from the orphanage first as his descendants state he married a girl from Okla and had one child.( nothing else known abt 1st wife & child ) . The marriage does not last . Ludy Johnson and his brother George Johnson run away from the orphanage abt 1918 according to their descendants. The youngest brother Tom Johnson Jr. is in the house hold of his half sister Dora Beatrice Morris ( nee Harris ) in Oklahoma City , Okla by the 1920 Census. Dora's husband Walter Morris and their son Walter Jr.The census taker has written orphan by Dora's name then crossed it out.

Ludie Johnson and his brother George Albert Johnson running from the orphanage take jobs following the harvesting crews and work their way towards Nebraska , then Sioux City Iowa. The brothers marry Crane Sisters . Ludie's wife Pearl Crane has a son that dies shortly after birth and the tragic event marks the end of their marriage. Ludie Johnson married a 3rd time to Eva Burge and had 2 daughters Claudet Carol Johnson and Jeannie or Janene Johnson. This marriage will also end in divorce. George Johnson and wife Ollie Crane will raise a family of 5 boys and one daughter in Sioux City , Iowa.

Tom Johnson Jr. came to California during the war to see his real mother Etta Blackmon . Ettie married a 3rd time to Will Akins and after 1940 moved to California and is buried there . Other than Tom Jrs visit , no one seems to have any more info on him.

I have hunted for Tom Johnson Jr. for a decade now. He most likely has already passed away but am hoping he had a family and to one day locate his descendants.

Two households down form Barbara ( Band ) and her 3rd husband Lige H. Hendrix we find a James & Nannie Johnson household . James Johnson was born Aug 1879,wife Nannie born march 1872, no kids . Our families have very similar migration patterns . Could we possibly have a connection ?
