Dorene, I have some intersections with your Oilers. I was interested because several served in the 27th OVI during the Civil War and they are "marry-ins" to my Scurlock/Woods. I have been to Franklin Cem and there are lots of Oilers, Woods, Geer, Dodrills, and Bishops. Franklin is not far from Alice, OH which is on the map and use to be a rail center? Samuel Oiler's daughter Rebecca married a McQuisten who was the father of a lady who married one of my Scurlocks. Samuel's son Andrew Jackson Oiler 1841-1917 also served in the 27th and is buried in Wilkesville Cem. Samuel MAY have had 2 wives. I haven't sorted that out yet. One is in V1, p. 219 of the MR in Gallia Co. Possibily Polly Caldwell and/or Elizabeth Cavinder Bass. Other Oiler researchers ought to be able to help. Betsey Cavinder is in your records of Vol 1, p.219/ Do you have an obit for Martha Jennings Shimp DEAN 3/8/1940-10/20/2000?, your mother or her DC. I would trade a document with you if you have. Do you know if Jacob Oiler b. 1837 died in 1911? I have been trying to find his death date. Jasper 1860-1932 Nina Maymoma Oiler Jennings JAKEWAY died 8/27/1979 and is buried in Reynoldsburg, Franklin Co, OH. I was just there to get her tombstone picture last week because I couldn't find her DC. Since she remarried a Jakeway I should be able to find it under that name. Razo Jennings her first husband is buried beside her. 12/8/1896-4/10/1948. I have a Floyd Oiler b. 1/1/1896 with parents to Jasper and Catherine Ann Haeburn Oiler but not a Nola. Some of the Hills also intersect with my Scurlocks. Pearl & Nancy Woods that married v2, p.39 was Peter Pearl s/o Samuel and is buried at Franklin Cem. Nancy Woods MAY be the sister of John Woods who is also at Franklin Cem because a Nancy woods was mentioned in her father's will. I am interested in John Woods and his 2nd wife Saral Ellen McCumber Bishop. Your James & Eve Bard? v2, p.253. Do you have the marriage date. I have 3 James. One married an Eva Shively that is buried in Franklin and wonder if she was married before and hence has the last name of Bard. Your George W. and & Anna unreadable V2, p. 426 if that is dated 11/18/1860, I believe Anna is an ERWIN. I am interested in the date of Caroline and Thomas Dickerson Marriage Vol 4, 389 and wonder if you now more about them. The Blanche Oiler 1912-1935 you have in McGhee Cemetery MIGHT have the maiden name of Westenbarger. If so, she died 9/12/1936 and is wife of Earl Oiler that you have in Vinton Memorial Cemetery. Jacob Oiler Co A 27th OH is s/o Samuel and would have been born about 1837. I am interested in Missouri Geer and the date of her marriage to a James Oiler. Vol 6, p.347. There are several Geers in Franklin Cem. I am after Madison Geer's second wife Rosetta Scurlock as I can't find her. Fred Oiler in Ewing Cemetery should have dates of 1828-1907 but I haven't proven that yet. HOpe this helps you and others. Helen h.cott@att.net Notify Administrator about this message?
