Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

If you enter Pittsfield in the search engine of the Ahern website at http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~aherns/ you will get hits on 22 pages, many of them obituaries and news items, but including a Hugh O'Harron who served in the Civil War and several O'Herrings in the 1850 census. Note that when you got further away from Boston the spelling of Ahern/o"hearn became quite varied. There are also a couple of O'Harron/O'Haren naturalizations from Pittsfield.
