If you enter Pittsfield in the search engine of the Ahern website at you will get hits on 22 pages, many of them obituaries and news items, but including a Hugh O'Harron who served in the Civil War and several O'Herrings in the 1850 census. Note that when you got further away from Boston the spelling of Ahern/o"hearn became quite varied. There are also a couple of O'Harron/O'Haren naturalizations from Pittsfield.
