Hi Simon A message from a New Zealand O'Hagan. My great grandfather Michael O'Hagan left Hilltown in County Down in the 1860s and went off with his brother Charles to find his fortune. We understand that they first went to America then on to Australia where there was a gold rush and later on to NZ wher they prospected for gold and made enough to buy themselves a farm each. Parish records show that Michael was baptised in 1835. His father was Stephen O'Hagan. Let's know if this is any use to you. Armagh is next to Down and Hilltown is just 15 kms away from Newry.
