Mary WAGNER born 1812 in Ohio had married her 2nd husband abt 1844 -he was John ROBERTS born in NY. By the 1850 census Mary WAGNER -ROBERTS was the 38 yr old head of household, living alone in Crawford township, Wyandot co, OH with the following five of her children all born in Ohio:
John JOHNSON 17 yr; Susan JOHNSON 12 yr; Allen JOHNSON 8 yr; Mary ROBERTS 5 yr and Fanny Emily ROBERTS born 7 Oct 1845.
I can't seem to find Mary WAGNER's parents & siblings nor what happened to her two husbands, Mr. JOHNSON and John ROBERTS. Neither do I know what happened to Mary WAGNER-ROBERTS and her four oldest children after the year 1850.
I do know that Mary's youngest child, Fannie Emily ROBERTS married in 1861 in Hancock county, Ohio, Mahlon James WARD, the son of an Englishman, William WARD and his Ohio born wife. Fannie ROBERTS & Mahlon J. WARD were married for more than 50 years and had at least 6 son's and one daughter. They wandered far and wide thru the years to Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Missouri and finally Brookings Co, South Dakota where they moved in 1900. Evidence is they were poor & struggled to survive.
Was Mary WAGNER's youngest daughter Fannie ROBERTS-WARD
able to keep in touch thru the years with the family she left behind in Wyandot County, Ohio? Did any of them also wander northward and westward? Did Fannie know when her mother died or when her siblings bore children? Did they know when Fannie died and was buried in the spring of 1929 in Brookings, South Dakota at the age of 83?
Please help me find the answers. Please contact me: Mary Kay WARD, 1432 Yeardley Drive, Richmond, VA 23225; ph: 804-232-9338. Thanks.
