Hopefully, this will produce a grin, maybe a smile!

1930 census in Bowling Green, Wood, OH, taken April 18th, shows this VAN WAGNER family in ward 1, Bowling Green, Wood, OH living at 815 Ridge Street:
head, Harry C., 32, first md at 25, OH OH OH, contractor
wife, Gertrude, 30, first md at 22, OH OH OH
a/son, Charles W., 4-8/12, OH US US
a/dau, Constance A., 3-7/12, OH US US

If Constance was 3 years 7 months old her birthdate should have been August 1926 and Charles would have been born July 1925, if the census enumerator and I are on the same page.

To be absolutely certain Constance VANWAGNER was born a DEWYER, you would need to check the 1926 Wood County birth records and/or guardianship/adoption records for that time period.

A Charles William VANWAGNER, b 10 Jul 1925 in Ohio, d 10 Aug 1983 in Kern Co. CA, possibly in Lake Isabella. His mother's maiden name was MCCOMB. (Better sit down!) A Gertrude MCCOMB, age 19, is in the 1920 Bowling Green census.

A Harry C. VAN WAGNER died o/b 28 Feb 1952 in Wood County. The only Gertrude that was a VAN WAGNER was Mrs. C. F. CARLTON who died o/b Dec 1957.

Since Charles died at a young 58, the chances are good that Constance outlived him. I'd suggest you get a copy of his obit from the Kern County Library. An email link is at
