I checked the 1860 census when I was at the library today. There was indeed a George Pelice living in Perrysburg in 1860. He was a 33 year old sailor, born Germany. There was a 33 year old woman living in the same household (most likely his wife). Her name was difficult to read, but it looked like Appeliomia (Appalonia?). She was also born in Germany. There was a 4 year old girl, Mary, b. New York, also Peter Mayler, 78, laborer, b. Germany, Catherine Mayler, 61, b. Germany. There were no relationships given in that census, but I would guess that the older people were George's in-laws, and the girl was his daughter. Since he was a sailor, they probably moved around, which is why I found no other records of his presence in Wood Co. There were other Mahler families, but I don't know if they were related.
