You may want to check out the various Bryan area newspapers on file at the CAC at BGSU. An index of available newspapers is at http://www.bgsu.edu/colleges/library/cac/page41553.htmlhttp://www.bgsu.edu/colleges/library/cac/page41553.html
There is a picture and accompanying article about the Halm Brewery at http://www.ohiomemory.org/http://www.ohiomemory.org/. Select "By Subject" and enter HALM. The article suggests that one of the men in the picture is the elder Jacob.
That article says that Jacob immigrated from Baltmannsweiler and at http://www.familysearch.orghttp://www.familysearch.org there is some information on a Johann Jakob that matches his birthplace and includes his parents' names and his christening in the Evangelisch/Protestant (probably Lutheran) church.
If he was a prominent member of the local Lutheran church, they may have published a "100 Year History" type of booklet that contained photos. Or maybe the Ohio State Masonic Association would have photos of the Bryan lodge or from local or state lodge conventions.
