Patricia, I'm not sure if you live in this area or not, but...According to the Hillsdale Co. Burials Book, Joseph Dilworth died 31 December 1866, aged 52 y 2m 23d.He is buried at Burt's Evergreen Cemetery on Burt Road in Ransom Township. In the 1860 census (as Joseph Delworth), I see he is in Jefferson Twp., across the state line in Williams Co., Ohio. That area is about 10-12 miles south of Ransom just to get to Jefferson Twp.So, unless he had some type of connection to Ransom, I would see no reason for him to be brought that far for burial. There are other cemeteries much closer.Furthermore, there were very few people buried at Evergreen in 1866.The first burial there was in 1864.My ggg grandparents Thomas & Sarah Burt started this cemetery on their farm. There were people buried up by their barn, and they were not even moved until the 1870's.Most people don't know this, but there was a Ransom Cem., a couple miles away, which was older, but those buried there were also moved in the 1870's.In the 1870 census, Joseph's son Andrew is working for my gg grandparents. That farm location was on Camden Road between Bird Lake Road and Tripp Road.Tripp Road is around the corner from the cemetery. These two farms were 2 miles apart.I grew up on Tripp. It seems to me that I should know more about this Dilworth name- it seemed familiar to me right away.Do you know if Joseph had more family in the Ransom area?Or did he have family in Amboy Twp., as that is only 2 1/2 miles wide between Ohio and Ransom Twp.I know this doesn't answer the questions to his father, but maybe if other relation is in the area, then that might help to track back.Roger Douglass.
