Census information suggests that the family was in Columbiana County, not Coshocton, in 1840 thru 1860.
1860 census, Franklin, Columbiana, OH:
Martha 53, William 25, James 23, John 21, Sarah 17, Nancy 14, George W. 14, Nancy 10.
1850 census, same location:
Martha 43, William 18, James 15, John 13, Sarah 6, Mary 4, Goerge 4, Nancy 11/12, Rosa 11, William ?3/43. The online index says William was a 3 year old farmer! It looks more like 43 on the census page's image.
1840 census, same location:
males: under 5-2 (James and John), 5-9 = 1 (William), 30-39 = 1 (William)
females: under 5 = 1 (Rosa), 30-39 = 1 (Martha)
James and Lydia are in Center, Williams, OH in the 1870 census with 3 children and they're still there in 1900:
head, James, 64, b Aug 1835, md 38 yrs, OH Ireland VA, farmer
wife, Lydia, 56, b Jan 1844, 4 chn, 4 living, OH PA PA
Apparenly Lydia died 1900-10 and James died 1910-20 because only James and his son Leroy G. are in the 1910 census and only Leroy is in the 1920 census.
In 1930, Leroy is still in Center Twp., a 67 year old single railroad laborer.
I am not related.
