Alicia -It was great to hear from you!My grandmother was Alice Emilie Peugeot whose father was Louis. (My mother was Charlotte Fry Planson -- she and her sisters told me stories about Louis and I have pictures.Supposedly he never learned English but at the least wouldn't speak English in front of the grandchildren.)I have learned from research what you call the 'family vine' -- it certainly makes it hard to follow everyone what with all the similar names and the like! Thanks to the librarian at the Williams County Library, I have a copy of "The French Connection" and thanks to someone at the Williams County Genealogical Society I have learned a lot. It took me forever to sort the Golls out!
I would love a copy of your family tree -- I've had trouble sorting everyone out! What you say in the email adds a lot already.
Yes -- the exciting thing you mention is the connection between theAmerican Peugeots and the French -- I have wanted to know what, if any, the connection was for a long time.GGrandfather Louis, according to my mother, told people 'we were the poor Peugeots'. I love the story about the French factory worker!
Thanks so much for answering my post -- I have known about some of the family history for a long time but only recently have been able to really delve into it.Thanks so much!My email is [email protected] and my address is 375 Olentangy Forest Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43214
Thanks again.Looking forward to what you have...Another question I have:There appears to be another Louis F. Peugeot who lived in Williams County but is not my great-grandfather.He supposedly married a Julie Chenelot. My Louis married Mary Louis Goll.Do you know anything about the 'other' Louis? Thanks so much!Geri Moulton
