Thank you for the information. I just got off the phone with the Wayne Co. Library. Jacob M Crouse married Lydia Shatto January 5, 1841 in Wayne Co. They are making a copy of the record and sending it to me. They are also checking into cemetery records for Lydia Crouse, including at the Emanuel Church of Christ, in Doylestown. If Lydia died in Wayne Co., she may be buried near Adam Shatto & family.
I have a book called The History of the Crouse Family of Pennsylvania and Ohio. In the book, there is a section on the Ohl family, as Mary Ann Ohl married Jehu Woodward Crouse. This line starts about 1729 in Philadelphia. Henry Ohl, son of Michael and Elizabeth Barbara Gucker Ohl, was born March 21, 1762, married Abolona (Abbey) Lark, at Heidelberg Church 1783, Heidelberg Disrtict, Northampton Co., Pa, now a part of Lehigh Co. They sold their land in Pennsylvania, April 4, 1805 and bought land in Canfield, Ohio, May 27, 1805. This was in Trumbull Co., later becoming Mahoning Co., Their children:
Michael, b Oct 29, 1784, married Eve Myers; David married Magdalena Hardy; Henry, Jacob, b Sept 5, 1793, married Catherine Dustman, John, b Aug 13, 1795, married Katherine Krumrine; Eve, born May 21, 1798, married Amos Hood; Abraham, n Nov 14, 1803, married Catherine Harding; Maria married Andrew Waggoner, later Mr. Keifer. Mary (Magdalena) b July 16, 1809 married JOHN SHATTO. Records: Anniversary History of Lehigh Co., PA Vol. III, pg 971; History Trumbull and Mahoning Co., OhioVol 2, pg 128; Eagle's last volumn of "Notes and Querries," (1900) pg 114 - 115.
I am thinking that in the estate of Adam Shatto, refering to the affidavits, Lydia (Shatto) and Joseph Crouse, may have been a typo, but rather Jacob Crouse.
Also refering to the churchyard of the Emanuel Church of Christ, in Doylestown, it is mentioned "His two wives, Mary Lawrence and three sons;" this does not say who the first wife was. Is it possible that John and Adam's wives were switched, per say, on paper? Do you know if there is a paper record of Adam Shatto & Mary Ohl's marriage?
Thank you for the info on Lucky Montgomery. The daughter of Jacob & Lydia, Lydia Crouse married George Beall, in Sullivan Co., George's neice was named Mary, and I could not locate her, thought maybe she might have married Lucky.
Barbara
