Jacob M Crouse & Lydia Shatto, Chippewa Twp 1850 Census
Posted by: Barbara Hartsook (ID *****8582) Date: April 08, 2005 at 17:13:59
  of 1002

I am looking for information on this family. Jacob M Crouse b 1820 Juniata Co.,Pennsylvania, Lydia Shatto, b abt 1826 Ohio, were married in 1841 Wayne Co. Ohio

The 1850 census for Chippewa Twp., shows
Jacob M "Krouse", 32, b PA Blacksmith
Lydia, 24, b Ohio
Adam, 8, b Ohio
Jno, 6, b Ohio
Lydia, 2, b Ohio

Adam died at the first shot fired at Shilo, April 1862.
Both John and Lydia, in the 1860 census of Sullivan Co., Missouri, are living with John Montgomery and wife Mary (Shatto, daughter of Adam Shatto) Montgomery, formally of Wayne Co.

1 - I have not been able to find out what happened to Jacob and Lydia. Possible Lydia died in Chippewa Twp.
2 - Jacob, also, I can not locate him, possible was in Civil War.
3 - Who were Lydia Shatto's parents?

Jacob M Crouse's brother, Jehu Woodward Crouse, was married to Mary Ann Ohl. Mary Ann's aunt, Mary Magdalena Ohl, b July 16, 1809, daughter of Henry Ohl and Abolona (Abbey) Lark, was married to John Shatto.

Can anyone enlighten me? Are there cemetery records available on line for Emanuel Church of Christ in Doylestown?

If anyone can answer any of these questions, it will give me a few clues as to where to look next.

Thankyou for your help.
