From History Of Wayne Co , Ohio 1878 page 254 The first courthouse was erected in 1819, a three story building made of brick.It burned in 1828.The second courthouse was built in 1831 costing $7,200.The contract was awarded to Calvin Hobert to erect a brick and stone building on the northwest corner of the square. The architect was Mr McCurdy. It was 72 feet long, and build from brick from the old courthouse.It served until 1877 when itwas deemed unsafe.The thrid courthouse built in 1888 at a cost not to exceed $75,000 bond issue.
