In an attempt to determine the ancestry
of Cyrus Bentz who died in Wooster in 1892
I learned lots about his first wife, Maria
Slanker who had preceded him in death.
For example, those with an interest in the
estate of Maria Slanker Bentz include:
Solomon Slanker, Sarah Decker and her husband
Jacob Decker, Gideon Slanker, Eliza Freese and husband Henry Freese, Harry A. Turner,
Edwin A. Turner, Harry Hoffman, Addie Hoffman, Willis Slanker, Annie C. Slanker a
minor under 14, Francis S. Slanker under 14,
George Slanker under 14, Sarah Slanker, Hannah Slanker and Cyrus Bentz. I thought
Cyrus Bentz may be a son of Jacob F. Bentz
because some Wooster reporter said as much,
but that now appears not to be the case.
Does your Chippewa book have anything on
Bentz or Spreng?
