I'm planning to visit Marietta in October and was hoping to visit the Ohio River Museum there. However, I now find that it is closed due to funding problems, so I am looking for someone who can connect me with a researcher who is familiar with the riverboat trade in the mid-1800's. I'm trying to find the names and a little information about my great grandfather Jacob Flowers's boats. He had three boats on the Ohio River, two of which were destroyed in a storm. I wonder if the boats were licensed or if there was a registration requirement at the time and where that might be found. Thanks.
