Posts on this list from the late 1990's indicate that SIMON GILLESPIE of VA may have emigrated to Warren Co. OH.
Gillespie DNA GROUP 2 is not related to DNA GROUP 1 - the descendants of THOMAS GILLESPIE & NAOMI THOMPSON of Rowan Co. NC. DNA GROUP 2 is not related to the WILLIAM GILLESPIE also of Warren Co. listed in an earlier post as he is in DNA GROUP 1.

Note below is from Gillespie DNA Project Analyst, Charles Moore:
Thomas (+Eleanor), William (+Mary), and Robert, and another apparent brother James who acquired land adjacent to Robert, all settled near Clifton Forge, along or near the Cowpasture River, and are presumed to have been brothers.
The DNA results show a close relationship between those descended from Robert, and those descended from William (+Mary). The pending results due starting about July 20, 2007 will be from descendants of Thomas (+Eleanor), which we expect will confirm the close relationships among the apparent brothers.
The 4th brother James disappeared after acquiring the land adjacent to Robert, and is presumed not to have any descendants.
There is yet another line closely related to these brothers, that of their apparent nephew SIMON GILLESPIE, the last major branch of the family from which we still have no DNA testers. Special note to descendants of Simon: we need your DNA.
