Our thanks to Warren County Genealogical Society volunteer, Chuck Griffen, who has photographed all extant tombstones at the Muddy Creek Cemetery on Western Row Road in Deerfield Township. The results of his efforts have been added to the Warren County OHGenWeb Project at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohwarren/Cemetery/muddy/index.htm Beers History of Warren County [page 642] says the following about this cemetery, “In 1803, the Union yard was opened for the interment of the dead. This is in the Bowyer community, about a mile north of the present Union Church. About the same time the Muddy Creek Graveyard was started." Chuck was able to locate the tombstones for 25 of the 35 entries found in Warren County, Ohio Cemetery Records, Volume 6 plus another 13 not previously listed. The results of his efforts will be included in a future update of Volume 6. Dates on the tombstones range from 1811 to 1868. A 1998 restoration project at this cemetery was done as an Eagle Scout project by Eric Yarberry along with Carl Meunnich of Deerfield Twp. A listing from this project can be found in the OHGenWeb Archives at ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/oh/warren/cemeteries/keltner.txt The results of the 1998 restoration project included 18 entries not found as a result of the Warren County Genealogical Society efforts.
