The Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic (LGAR) is the oldest women's lineage society in the U.S. It begin in 1881 and is made up of women age 10 or older who have either a direct ancestor or a blood-related uncle who served in the Union forces of the Civil War. We are seeking to obtain members in Vinton County with the hope of forming a new chapter there. The largest one in Ohio is currently in Meigs County, OH. If interested, e-mail me or write me for more information.
