Marie --
According to a Bible record, which I haven't physically located yet, Christoper Columbus Shoemaker was born 27 Mar 1836 (probably in Morgan Co., OH) to Bernard and Elizabeth (either Buchanan or Compton) Shoemaker. Going by children's birthplaces, they would have been married in PA, but I haven't located this yet.

I had an earlier marriage in Vinton Co. for Columbus but had overlooked the 1863 one.

Elizabeth was born 1798 in PA (this is from handed down family info only at this point)and died in Morgan Co, OH in 1844 (this is family info, plus they were definitely in Morgan Co from 1840-45 according to census and Bernard's remarriage in 1845)

Bernard was born c. 1798 in PA (probably Bedford Co)he was in Morgan Co 1840, Muskingum Co 1850 (where he married again) Vinton Co by 1858 (where he married again)and in DeWitt Co, IL by 1860. He died in DeWitt Co between 1860 and 1868, when his widow remarried. I am currently working on this family and hope to fill in the fuzzy areas soon.

I have info on Bernard's ancestry -- which I consider unreliable as I haven't even begun to look into it personally yet. You're welcome to it though if you'd like to have it for clues. ... Debbie.
