Early tax records Swan and Jackson Twps
Posted by: Kay Wilson Date: June 11, 2001 at 04:00:06

Tax records for 1836, 1838, and 1839 were recently located in the old records from the Hocking County Court House attic. Swan and Jackson were in Hocking County This was before they became part of Vinton County. The books have just been indexed and copied. The origional books are too fragile for general usage, so complete copies have been made.
These list R T S of land owned, and also listing of those who owned chattel goods.
The books are at the records department, Court House annex in Logan. The Hocking Chapter OGS will be publishing these records
as soon as printing can be completed.
Kay Wilson, assistant records clerk
