Jacob F. Ackom, born Marion County, Ohio, Apr 29, 1841. Father Peter Ackom born near Darmstadt Germany, was atailor by trade and a soldier in the German army, attaining the rank of captain. Mother was Margaret Rudle. Parents had 7 children, 6 living in 1896: Joseph F., Mary, Catherine, Peter, Margaret, Elizabeth. Father came to America in 1834. Father died in 1868, age 67. Parents were members of the German Reform Church & he was a Democrat.
Jacob married May 15, 1862, Rebecca Baxter, daughter of Thomas & Nancy (Suddeth) Baxter). Served in Civil War, was a carpenter & farmer and in 1869 started an undertaking business and then into insurance. Jacob & Rebecca had four kids: Rosecranz S., John J. (who died at age 2), Nettie A. and Dora, wife of John Snyder. Rosecranz S. has been a school teacher for 7 years (at the time of publishing). He married Eliza Pruden & had 5 kids. Jacob & Rebecca are members of the Baptist Church & he is a Republican. Rebecca's grandfather, Elias Suddeth lived to 113 years, dying in Harrison County Ohio and had 11 children.
