Bartholomew Cullen, aged 78 years, a retired Pennsylvania man, died at 6:45 o'clock this morning at St. Joseph's hospital.Death was due to the infirmities of old age.The deceased was born in Ireland, January 6, 1833, and came to the United States with his parent at the age of 9 years, settling in Altoona, Pa., where he grew into young manhood and connected with the Pennsylvania railroad.He was married to Miss Bridget Kelly, at Altoona, nearly 50 years ago and had he lived a short time longer would have celebrated his golden jubilee.From Altoona he moved to Convoy, Ohio and from there to Fort Wayne nine years ago, retiring after having been in the employ of the Pennsylvania company for thirty years.
He was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church.During the nine years of residence in Fort Wayne he made many friends and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.He was a member of the Married Men's sodality? and of the League of the Sacred Heart.He is survived by a widow and six sons, P. J. Cullen of Amoaha, F. J. Cullen of Monroevile, A. J. Cullen of Columbia City and B. W. and J. H. Cullen of Fort Wayne.The remains were removed to the Getz & Cahill undertaking parlor to be prepared for the burial and will be removed from there to the home at 2211 Lafayette street this evening.
