Sue...I have just reopened the France files and am working on them. I know you and I exchanged emails a few years back. There are a few things I have questions about and a few of your blanks to fill. Also I'll try to get up up speed on George W. France. I have more questions than answers at this point. You have Fannie Widener France dying in 1860 Clay Co, IN. I did not find here in the mortality schedule and she is not listed with Joseph amnd the children after the 1850 Tuscarawas OH census. Where did you find the 1860 death date? As for Eliza Jane Hall, she is my direct ancestor. I have been unable to find record of her parentage but the most likely possibility is Sylvanus Hall of Clermont Co, OH. I know of no connection to Absalom Hall or Harrison Co, OH. She married my ancestor Luke Jackson in 1845 in Clermont. She and Luke were in the will of Luke's maternal grandfather John Short, Sr, a Rev War vet also from Clermont, OH, but having war service in VA. I am related on both sides of the Joseph France/Eliza Hall union as Joseph's son (also a Joseph) married Eliza's daughter (Sophia Elizabeth) 4 years after their parents married. Joseph's son Samuel died 12 Apr 1900 in Darwin, Clark Co, IL and is buried there with a military headstone. Per Jeremiah's war records, he was single and never married when he died in a militray hospital in Indianapolis of disease contracted in the Civil War. I have never found Christian's marriage record. He was widowed at the time of death and had lived with my great-grandparents in Shepherdsville when my grandmother was a girl. He died there in 1919 and my grandmother often mentioned her "Uncle Chris" who mixed all his food including dessert together on one plate. :) The Cynthia (Jane) you mention who married a Francis was actually the dtr of Samuel. Can you tell me what the source is that showed Joseph coming to Clay county with George? I'll plan to keep open a separate file for George France and see if I can link the two France families. Have you requested George's Civil War pension file? Thanks, James Notify Administrator about this message?
