John A. Hunter & Jessie Hunter - 1840's marriages into Van Wye family
Posted by: Gail Van Wye (ID *****0704) Date: February 28, 2003 at 00:25:18
  of 1002

John A. Hunter married Mary J. Van Wye [dau. Of Abram Van Wye and Charity Laird]in April of 1846 in Weathersfield Township, Trumbull County, Ohio. Both Mary J. and John A. Hunter died of “consumption” in the late 1850s. They had at least three children -Joseph, Charity, Jessie;and possibly two more - Clara and Jon D.
On marriage record his father “J. Hunter” gives his consent for their marriage, so John must have been under 21 at the time of the wedding. What are the Hunter parents names? His siblings? Too bad there are several Hunter families nearby headed by Joseph, Jonathan as well as other names. Does not allow one to jump to conclusions. Were they also transplants to Trumbull County from Washington County, PA?
In 1842 Abram’s youngest sister Katherine Van Wye had married a man named Jessie Hunter and they lived in Bartholomew County, IN from shortly thereafter until their death around 1907 or so. Is Jessie related to John and “J.”?
